Soumaoro among Genoa reinforcements

Genoa have reportedly agreed terms with Lille for defender Adama Soumaoro, while Iago Falque underwent a medical.

The Grifone have been very active on the transfer market, particularly the last couple of days, as Andrea Masiello completed his transfer from Atalanta.

He is not the only defender, as Sportitalia and Sky Sport Italia claim a deal has been done for Lille centre-back Soumaoro.

There are also reinforcements in attack, as Iago Falque had his medical today, choosing to join Genoa on loan from Torino rather than SPAL.

Semplici: 'SPAL needed that win'

Leonardo Semplici said SPAL “certainly needed a game like this against a great team like Atalanta” after the shock 2-1 victory in Bergamo.

The club from Ferrara not only came back from an early Josip Ilicic goal to get their first Serie A win away to Atalanta since 1966, they also clawed themselves off the foot of the table.

Now SPAL have 15 points, alongside Brescia, leaving Genoa bottom on 14.

Dzeko: 'No Inter regrets'

Roma striker Edin Dzeko insists he has no regrets about rejecting a move to Inter last summer. "I don't think about it."

Dzeko had been linked with a move to the Nerazzurri throughout last summer. However a deal didn't materialise.

"I don't think about it. They are playing very well and they are first together with Juventus, it will be a race to the end and that's good for the league," the Bosnian told Sky Sport Italia.

Mazzarri: 'Nicola's Genoa unknown'

Torino boss Walter Mazzarri says he doesn't know what to expect against Davide Nicola's Genoa ahead of their Coppa Italia clash. "We can only look to their game against Sassuolo."

Nicola has only been in charge for one game, winning 2-1 against Sassuolo, and Mazzarri says they will be a different side.

“The only reference we have is the game against Sassuolo. His arrival has had an effect on the team, and they will be in high spirits,” said Mazzarri in his press conference.

Mazzarri: 'Ignoring Inter past'

Torino boss Walter Mazzarri says he is ignoring his Inter past ahead of facing them in Serie A tomorrow.

Mazzarri coached Inter between May 2013 and November 2014 but with little success as a fifth-placed finish was followed by the sack months later.

Nonetheless, he asserted at a press conference: "I'm not thinking about the past, I'm thinking about facing Inter, one of the best teams in the League.

"When you face the second-best team in the League, you are subconsciously fired up more than usual."

Toro charge towards Europe

With Torino unexpectedly given a shot at the Europa League, Jay Cassano evaluates where the squad needs to improve.

Milan's exclusion from European football as a result of their Financial Fair Play settlement means Torino gets to take their place. In truth, missing a season of the Europa League won't have much impact on Milan's fortunes given their strong revenue base while they try to become a Champions League squad once again. But for Torino, it represents a significant upswing in fortunes. This windfall sets the Granata up to continue building on the strong work they've done in recent seasons.
