Mazzarri: 'Torino intimidated'

Walter Mazzarri explained his unusual choices in the 3-0 defeat to Roma, but Torino were “intimidated” after conceding the opener.

The Granata had the better of the first half and were only denied an opener by Alisson Becker, but lost their way after the break and eventually lost 3-0.

“We did so much in the first half, the goalkeeper did what you all saw and is an extraordinary player,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

Falque: 'Best Torino of the season'

Iago Falque maintains Torino’s 1-1 draw away to Sampdoria “was our best performance of the season, even when down to 10 men.”

Lucas Torreira’s free kick had given Samp the lead at Marassi, but Afriyie Acquah scored the equaliser only to then be sent off.

“In my view, Torino put in our best performance of the season,” Iago Falque told Sky Sport Italia.

Coppa: Torino ease past Carpi

First half goals from Iago Falque and Andrea Belotti saw Torino past Carpi in the Coppa Italia.

The Granata opened the scoring after 18 minutes, with M’Baye Niang sending his corner low to Falque on the edge of the box, the Spaniard’s shot finding its way home at the near post.

Belotti doubled the lead 15 minutes later, heading in a Niang cross at the back post for his first goal since September 20.

Falque: ‘Napoli for the Scudetto!’

Torino winger Iago Falque says “it would be nice” for Napoli to win the Scudetto even though “Juventus have the best squad”.

The Partenopei currently lead Serie A, but Juve have moved up to second, and are just a point behind Maurizio Sarri’s side.

“I see Napoli looking good for the Scudetto, even if Juve have the best squad,” Falque told Radio Onda Cero.

“Among those who are fighting for it, it would be nice for Napoli to win, considering the football they play.

Torino peg Inter back

Inter had to fight back from a Iago Falque opener to snatch a point against Torino at San Siro, though Matias Vecino rattled the woodwork.

The Nerazzurri were unbeaten this season, dropping points only against Napoli and Bologna, sitting in second place with a perfect home record.

Iago Falque broke the deadlock with a wonderful solo effort, running from midfield to cut inside and drill low into the near bottom corner.

Eder came off the bench and got the equaliser, making the most of an inspired Mauro Icardi assist.

Falque: ‘Roma a missed opportunity’

Torino winger Iago Falque admits he sees his time at Roma as “a missed opportunity”.

The Spaniard moved to the Giallorossi in the summer of 2015, but after just one season he was loaned to the Granata, who bought him outright in January this year.

“I consider myself almost Italian,” Falque told AS.

“Between when I came here and when I returned I’ve been here for five years. I came to Juventus as a kid, but that experience served me well when I came back.

Iago Falque in car crash

Torino striker Iago Falque is fortunately unhurt after crashing his car in Turin today, but the other driver has minor injuries.

The former Roma and Genoa forward saw his Porsche Cayenne smash into a Fiat Panda in Corso Galileo Ferraris, in the centre of Turin.

Iago Falque is unhurt, though his vehicle was totalled.

The driver of the Panda was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Toro play Udinese tomorrow evening in Serie A, but are without injured Afriyie Acquah, Joel Obi, Antonio Barreca and Kevin Bonifazi.
