Falque: 'Roma better than Bayer'

Iago Falque insists Roma “played better than Bayer Leverkusen” and deserved the victory in a 4-4 draw.

The former Genoa winger thought he’d sealed the win in Germany with the fourth goal, but a late comeback denied Roma their first Champions League away victory since 2010.

“We were playing well, they scored a great goal out of nowhere and it pushed them on towards the equaliser,” Iago Falque told Roma TV.

Falque: ‘Roma play best football’

Iago Falque believes “the best football in Italy is played by Roma” but admits the defence must improve.

The Spaniard joined the Giallorossi from Genoa this summer, and has two assists and a goal in his six Serie A appearances so far.

“The best football in Italy is played by Roma,” Calque declared in an interview with Sky.

“The great chemistry I have with [Lucas] Digne allows me to get a lot of crosses in. I’ve only scored one goal so far, but that happened at Genoa, and in the end I got 13.

Roma: Dzeko, Salah, Falque permanent

Roma announced they have activated clauses to buy Edin Dzeko, Mohamed Salah and Iago Falque permanently.

The trio were signed on loan with option to buy from Manchester City, Chelsea and Genoa respectively.

Towards the end of a multi-page financial statement released by the Giallorossi this evening, there was mention of future transfers.

It pointed out that these players were “at first signed on a temporary basis, transformed into definitive transfers after planned contractual conditions were met.”

Roma await injury tests

Roma confirm Edin Dzeko sprained his right knee, while Seydou Keita and Francesco Totti have muscular injuries.

All three limped off during today’s 5-1 victory over Carpi at the Stadio Olimpico.

The club released statements confirming Dzeko sprained his right knee and will undergo tests on Sunday to ascertain the extent of the damage.

Keita has been diagnosed with a muscular problem in his right thigh and it will be fully evaluated over the next 24-48 hours.

Falque: 'We worked hard'

Iago Falque admits he “had to work hard” for Roma to earn a 1-1 draw against Barcelona.

It was a reunion for the Spaniard, who grew up in the Blaugrana youth academy.

“I am very happy, because it was my Champions League debut and we drew against a great side. Playing against Barcelona is special, but it’s not any kind of revenge for me,” he told Roma TV.

Rudi Garcia explained his tactical approach to Barcelona and why Daniele De Rossi showed “incredible intelligence” for Roma.

“It’s a huge result to draw with Barcelona and really boosts our confidence. We were tactically smart, knew that against Barcelona you have to work hard and defend stoically,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“We could’ve done better in holding possession and being dangerous on the counter, but I am satisfied, as the lads responded well and did what we had prepared.”

Balzaretti: ‘This is Iturbe's year'

Roma director Federico Balzaretti is impressed by the 'motivated' Juan Iturbe: 'This will be his year.'

The 22-year-old was linked with an move away from the capital over the summer, but Balzaretti praised the Argentine after his goal against Frosinone on Saturday.

“The Scudetto? It’s too soon, there have only been three rounds to evaluate and many more games will be needed to say who will be favourites for the title,” he said to Tiki Taka.

“Inter are doing well, even though Milan deserved a draw in the derby.

Iago Falque: 'Strong Roma signal'

Iago Falque felt Roma “sent a strong signal” with their commanding 2-1 victory over Juventus.

The Giallorossi sent the reigning champions down to a second consecutive defeat.

“A victory like this gives you more confidence, though at the end of the day it is only the second round of the season,” Iago Falque told Il Tempo newspaper.

Rudi Garcia wants “my spectacular Roma from the first 18 months,” hinted Edin Dzeko is on his way and hailed Iago Falque.

The Coach sat down for a Press conference as pre-season training began this week.

“I see the fans are very enthusiastic. There are many families and we won’t forget that we were all children observing our idols with that look in our eyes. The children are the future of the Roma support.”

Garcia was specifically asked if he had anything to say about Manchester City striker Dzeko.

Iago Falque 'honoured' by Roma

Iago Falque said it is “an honour” to play for Roma after completing his transfer from Genoa.

“I can’t wait to get started, become familiar with my teammates and the staff,” Iago Falque told Roma TV.

“It is an honour for me to play in this great side. I hope to do very well so that I can repay the club’s faith in me.”

The Spaniard arrives on an initial €1m loan with option to buy for a further €7m.
