The Azzurri will play the opening game of Euro 2020 against Turkey on June 11, a side that started its World Cup qualifying campaign in spectacular form with two big victories.

They opened by beating the Netherlands 4-2, then thumped Norway 3-0 away last night.

“I know Turkish football well and the spirit they have,” former Galatasaray coach Mancini told RAI Sport.

Mancini wants fans back in stadiums

Roberto Mancini joins those urging the Government to open up stadiums for fans, as it’d be ‘immensely disappointing’ if the opening Euro 2020 fixture was taken away from Rome.

The tournament was postponed from last summer and is due to begin in mid-June at the Stadio Olimpico, when Italy take on Turkey.

There are concerns, because as Italy is being hit by a third wave of COVID, there is no sign of fans being allowed back into the arenas.
