Arsenal, Man Utd, Milan watch Demiral

Arsenal, Manchester United and Milan are ready to swoop for Juventus and Turkey defender Merih Demiral in January.

According to Tuttosport newspaper, the Bianconeri are no longer set on keeping the 21-year-old centre-back if a strong offer arrives mid-season.

He was snapped up from Sassuolo over the summer for €18m, double the figure the Neroverdi paid to get him from Alanyaspor only six months earlier.

Fonseca: 'Modern football killing players'

Paulo Fonseca expects Roma to “take the initiative” against Claudio Ranieri’s Sampdoria, but blames the fixture list for injuries. “Modern football is killing the greatest players.”

Milan ask Lille for Zeki Celik

Milan are said to be targeting €20m-rated Turkey international Mehmet Zeki Celik, currently at Lille, for the January transfer window.

According to Tuttosport, the right-back is considered an ideal addition to their squad.

Davide Calabria has received two red cards in the opening seven Serie A rounds, while Mattia Caldara is still a long-term injury absentee.

There is another reason stated why Milan could get a good deal from Lille and that is both clubs are owned by the US hedge fund Elliott Management.

Mancini: 'Sport to unite, not divide'

UEFA consider relocating Istanbul Final

UEFA Vice-President Michele Uva confirmed they will consider calls to relocate the Champions League Final from Istanbul, but “we cannot replace the UN.”

The petitions are growing after Turkey started its operation against Kurds across the Syrian border, particularly as players have been making military salutes after their Euro 2020 qualifiers over the last week.

Some players were criticised for publicly backing the government’s actions, while German club St Pauli even went so far as to terminate midfielder Cenk Sahin’s contract.

France call Matuidi, but not Rabiot

Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi is in the France squad to face Iceland and Turkey, but not his club teammate Adrien Rabiot.

Coach Didier Deschamps named the side that will take on Iceland on Friday October 11 and host Turkey on Monday October 14 in their Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Roma dealt Cengiz blow

Roma winger Cengiz Under has left Turkey’s training camp after suffering a thigh injury.

Cengiz was called up for Turkey’s Euro 2020 qualifiers against Andorra and Moldova.

However, it was confirmed on Thursday that the 22-year-old had picked up a problem in his right hamstring.

He will return to Roma’s Trigoria training base tomorrow, where he will undergo tests to ascertain the extent of his injury.

The Giallorossi have also lost Leonardo Spinazzola, Davide Zappacosta and Diego Perotti to layoffs in recent weeks.

Official: Skrtel returns to Turkey

Former Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has officially joined Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir on the same day he was released by Atalanta.

Skrtel signed for Atalanta on August 9 but left on Monday without making a single appearance, his place taken by Sevilla loanee Simon Kjaer.

The 34-year-old was not a free agent for long as Basaksehir confirmed in the evening that he had signed for them.

Report: Fener join Dalbert race

The Dalbert saga threatens to take another twist as it is claimed Fenerbahce have joined the race for the Inter left-back.

Dalbert seemed to be edging towards Fiorentina in exchange for Cristiano Biraghi after former club Nice could not agree terms with Inter.

However, Turkish outlet Skor is now reporting the Brazilian could move to Fener on loan.

Furthermore, there is no mention of Fiorentina in the report – only that they are ‘in competition’ with Nice.

Nzonzi arrives for Galatasaray

Roma midfielder Steven Nzonzi has arrived to complete his loan move to Galatasaray.

Gala tweeted Nzonzi touching down in Istanbul on Thursday evening.

The 30-year-old will join the Turkish champions on an initial season-long loan with an option or obligation to buy next summer.

What is for certain, however, is that they will cover the entirety of his salary, estimated to be in the €3-4m region.
