Calhanoglu injury scare for Milan

Milan have to deal with yet another injury problem, as it’s reported Hakan Calhanoglu has left the Turkey camp early.

He has been struggling with a recurring issue with his ankle and the top of his foot, which at times made it difficult for him to even put on football boots.

According to the latest reports out of Turkey, Calhanoglu’s pain flared up again on international duty and he was sent home for treatment.

'Bayern watching Cengiz closely'

Cengiz Under’s former chairman has warned Roma that Bayern Munich are ‘keeping a close eye’ on the winger.

Cengiz is a reported target for Bayern, who are in need of new wide men as Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery are now 34 and 35 respectively.

“Bayern Munich are keeping a close eye on Cengiz,” Mehmet Ozkan told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“All I can say is that he could move for a lot of money.”

Germany to host Euro 2024

UEFA has announced that Germany will host Euro 2024, beating a bid from Turkey.

The forthcoming tournament will be split across several host cities, with matches to be played at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

The semi-finals and final will be played at Wembley Stadium in London, with Glasgow, Saint Petersburg and Munich also hosting matches.

Today the UEFA Executive Committee considered the final proposals from the two bidding countries, and ultimately awarded the tournament to Germany.

Besiktas press for Joao Mario?

Besiktas have reportedly stepped up their efforts to sign Inter outcast Joao Mario.

Gazzetta dello Sport cites reports in the Turkish Press, which claim Besiktas’ pressing for Joao Mario has become ‘insistent over the last few hours’.

The newspaper explains Pepe has also tried to convince his Portugal teammate to link up with him in Istanbul.

The Turkish transfer window has two more days to run, while the 25-year-old seems surplus to requirements at Inter, despite being called up for their 2-2 draw with Torino last weekend.

Calhanoglu targets Higuain assists

Milan’s Hakan Calhanoglu is ‘ready’ to provide assists for Gonzalo Higuain but is sad to say goodbye to Leonardo Bonucci.

Former Rossoneri captain Bonucci sealed a return to former club Juventus yesterday, with Higuain moving in the opposite direction alongside defender Mattia Caldara.

Speaking while on Milan’s pre-season tour of the United States, the Turkey international reacted to the ‘mega-deal’ between the two clubs, which has finally been confirmed following a period of intense negotiations.

Luis Nani confirms he is ‘meeting’ Turkish side Goztepe as the Lazio winger ‘would love’ a return to the Super Lig.

Nani is set to leave Lazio after just one season with the Aquile and two Serie A starts, and the Portuguese – who was left out of his country’s World Cup squad – revealed he was in talks with Goztepe.

“I’m meeting Goztepe,” the Valencia-owned attacker told DHA.

Turkish offers for Kalinic

Milan striker Nikola Kalinic is considered hot property in Turkey, with interest from Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Besiktas.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Croatia international is likely to end up in the Turkish Super Lig.

The 30-year-old was a big investment from Fiorentina last summer, costing €25m, but contributed only six goals and six assists in 41 competitive games.

While China was an option, it now seems as if Turkey is the next destination, with Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Besiktas all ready to swoop.

Roma have reportedly turned down €35m offers from Monaco and Arsenal for Cengiz Under, as they value him at €50m.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Turkey international has been the subject of big interest from abroad after just one season in Serie A.

He turns 21 in July and has scored eight goals with two assists in 32 competitive games this term.

Director of sport Monchi completed his signature for €13.4m from Basaksehir last summer and the price-tag has sky-rocketed.

Under injury not serious

There is good news for Roma, as Cengiz Under will remain with the Turkey squad, suggesting his knee injury is not serious.

The forward went off during the friendly against the Republic of Ireland.

Scans showed no particular damage from the left knee sprain, so he will stay with the Turkey team ahead of Tuesday’s test against Montenegro.

The 20-year-old has contributed six goals and an assist in 21 competitive games for Roma this season.

Despite his tender age, Under already has three goals and seven senior caps for his country.
