VIDEO: Stramaccioni loses it!

Esteghlal boss Andrea Stramaccioni had his Gattuso-Trapattoni-Malesani moment as he accused the Iranian club of ‘cutting off his translator’ in a rant.

Stramaccioni was only appointed Esteghlal boss in June, but already there have been fears he could walk out on the club, amidst disagreements over transfer strategy.

The 43-year-old stayed to oversee their opening League game of the new season, but he let rip after having watched them lose 1-0 to Machine Sazi.

Montella offered Iran job

Vincenzo Montella has reportedly been offered a new job as Coach of the Iran national team.

The tactician has struggled to hold down a position since leaving Sampdoria in the summer of 2016.

He was fired by Milan in November 2017, hired by Sevilla three days later and then dismissed by the Spaniards too in April.

According to Tuttosport, Montella is taking a few days to consider the proposal from the Iranian Federation.

It would be a three-year contract, leading up to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, worth €1.5m plus bonuses per year.

World Cup: Portugal survive VAR shambles

Portugal went through in second place in Group B at the World Cup, despite a draw with Iran amid VAR chaos.

On a crazy final night, the Portuguese went from top of the group to the brink of elimination in minutes, but eventually qualified behind Spain.

It was Iran who had the first chance of the game, but Vahid Amiri blazed horribly wide after good work from Alireza Jahanbakhsh.

Joao Mario should have made it 1-0, but the Inter flop somehow smashed over an open net after a mix-up in the Iranian defence.
