Del Piero deal was 'simple'

Juventus President Andrea Agnelli insists it was "simple" to agree new terms with Alessandro Del Piero.

The captain, whose previous deal was set to expire next month, yesterday committed himself to a new contract until June 2012.

"It has been simple," Agnelli noted. "We met in January with the promise to speak again at the end of the season.

"Alessandro told me that he wants to continue to be the captain of Juventus and wishes to win another Scudetto in the new stadium.

Zinedine Zidane has no doubt that his former club Juventus will shine under the patronage of Andrea Agnelli.

The 38-year-old French icon participated in a legends match between Juventus and Torino to raise money for an ALS charity.

"Things have changed. It takes time. But the Agnelli name is a guarantee and I really hope that Andrea does well.

Agnelli: 'Juve will change things'

Andrea Agnelli says Juventus will make changes at the end of the season leading to doubts about the future of Gigi Del Neri and several players.

The Juventus President is unhappy after back-to-back defeats to Lecce and Bologna meant his team risk not qualifying for next year's Champions League.

Juventus currently lie seventh in Serie A and are worse off than at this stage last season.

"The unity of the group is intact," Agnelli said. "We know very well that we are going through a moment of difficulty.

Juventus President Andrea Agnelli has launched a stinging attack on the club's players after Sunday's calamitous 2-0 defeat to Lecce.

Gigi Buffon was sent off early doors, but the way Juventus capitulated was quite shocking especially in light of the fact they beat Inter a week ago.

"We won't unload the blame on anyone," Agnelli said. "The group is united.

Asked if he considers Matri to be a good signing, Agnelli said: "Sure."

Agnelli: 'Juve in transitional year'

Juventus President Andrea Agnelli admits he is “annoyed” at the early Cup exits, but stands by Gigi Del Neri's work in a transitional year.

The Bianconeri crashed out of the Europa League in the first round without a single win and lost 2-0 at home to Roma in the Coppa Italia quarter-final this week.

“We want to send a clear message to the media and the fans,” said Agnelli in a Press conference.

“We are here to explain where we are and where we want to go. The rest is just cheap talk.
