Boston group in for Parma?

Details of the American investors said to be interested in acquiring Parma are emerging, with the group having tried to buy Cagliari in the past.

Americans interested in Parma

Carlo Tavecchio confirmed an American investment group “is interested” in buying Parma.

The club is on the verge of bankruptcy and a tribunal hearing is set for March 19, though current President Giampietro Manenti continues to insist the money will arrive.

“It is true, an important legal firm in Rome contacted me with this hypothesis of an American group,” FIGC President Tavecchio told Sky Sport Italia.

“I cannot quantify the American proposal, but I can say the Federal debts alone are €50m.”

Lucarelli: ‘Parma didn’t play for money’

Parma captain Alessandro Lucarelli says the club’s players did not play for money on Sunday, but rather to try to protect staff.

The Ducali had failed to play their two previous games before drawing 0-0 with Atalanta yesterday, having been given a financial lifeline by the Lega Serie A.

“If you think Parma played because we accepted the Lega’s aims, you’re 100 per cent wrong,” Lucarelli told Parma Channel in the wake of the match.
