Serie C: Bari to sue if Carpi promoted

Bari President Luigi De Laurentiis has already threatened to sue if Carpi are given the fourth and final promotion spot from Serie C into Serie B.

The Serie C meeting today reached a unanimous agreement that the 2019-20 season cannot be completed amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The proposal that will be put forward to the FIGC includes a block on relegation, with the three regional group winners – Monza, Vicenza and Reggina – promoted into Serie B.

Serie C 2019-20 season is over

The 2019-20 Serie C season is over, as the clubs agreed to terminate it here, promoting Monza, Vicenza, Reggina and probably Carpi to Serie B, while there will be no relegations.

Today’s Lega Pro meeting reached a unanimous conclusion, as the coronavirus pandemic makes it impossible for the clubs to follow all medical protocols required to resume in safety.

Galliani: 'Top clubs risk bankruptcy'

Monza CEO Adriano Galliani claims top clubs in Europe risk bankruptcy due to the lack of revenue during the forced break.

The former Milan chief executive is worried about the financial situation in European football and says football faces a ‘problem that’s not fully understood’.

“The accounts are blown up in the air because of the clubs’ debt and the loss of TV revenues” he told Telelombardia. “The situation is potentially dramatic.

Monza CEO and former Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani warns football must continue despite the coronavirus pandemic. “Several clubs risk bankruptcy.”

The Government is discussing an easing of the lockdown measures in Italy from May 4, which could include allowing players to return to training with daily COVID-19 tests.

Romagnoli protests at 'sneaky' Spanish eSports

Alessio Romagnoli and Adriano Galliani accused the Spanish contestants of being ‘sneaky’ in an eSports tournament, as FIFA cancelled the eNations StayAndPlay Cup.

“The ‘eNations StayAndPlay Cup’, a virtual tournament promoted by FIFA with the aim of reaffirming the commitment of world football in sharing positive messages during these tough times, has been cancelled due to technical and organisational problems linked to the spread of Covid-19,” read a statement from the FIGC.

Serie C to call off 2019-20 season?

The Lega Pro has reportedly agreed to end the 2019-20 Serie C season here, promoting four clubs into Serie B - one by drawing lots - and blocking relegation.

While Serie A is tentatively planning a return at the end of May, with Serie B hoping to follow, the season may well already be over for the lower tiers.

Youth leagues and amateur levels were already suspended definitively this week due to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to multiple sources, the Lega Pro decided today to suspend the Serie C1 campaign too.

Galliani suggests full season in 2021

Monza CEO Adriano Galliani has suggested to ‘do as in South America’ and complete the upcoming championship in the next calendar year.

The resumption of the European Leauges has been widely discussed and Galliani claimed changing the format completely could provide ‘a good solution’.

“For two years, do as in South America, championships in the calendar year,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “The 2020-21 season could begin in February 2021, the same thing the following year.

Galliani: 'Football must resume'

Adriano Galliani has claimed ‘football will explode’ if it doesn’t return to the pitch and suggested the different European Leagues ‘need not end at the same time’.

The former Milan CEO has begged football to wait until due time and return to the pitch ‘in safe conditions’ after the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Monza chairman stressed that the European Leagues will all have different timelines and claimed it was futile to insist on ending the championships at the same time.

Galliani: 'Monza must go up'

Adriano Galliani has warned that Monza must be promoted to Serie B, otherwise “football risks blowing up” if the season is scrapped.

Monza were running away with the Serie C Group A title before coronavirus halted the campaign, and there is the possibility of all Italian leagues being abandoned.

“I didn’t expect the coronavirus outbreak, but I hope Monza, 16 points clear of second place with 11 games left, can still go up to Serie B,” Galliani told Tutti Convocati.
