Atalanta in for Lucas Silva

Atalanta are among the clubs ready to take Lucas Silva from Real Madrid after his Cruzeiro loan spell expired, claim Brazilian reports.

The 26-year-old midfielder was purchased in January 2015 for €13m, but struggled to make an impact, going out on loan to Olympique Marseille and for two years back to his former club Cruzeiro.

According to Brazilian site UOL Esporte, there are several clubs interested in taking Lucas Silva off Real Madrid’s hands before his contract expires in June 2020.

Giovinco can rule a continent

Sebastian Giovinco leads Toronto FC through unchartered territory as they try to become the first MLS side in the FIFA Club World Cup, writes Marco D’Onofrio

Stunned and silenced.

The hostile crowd in Monterrey, Mexico simply couldn’t believe their eyes. The stories had been true after all.

The rest of the continent watched in amazement as the Atomic Ant put a perfectly placed free-kick in the top corner – hitting the inside of the post – on it’s way to the back of the net. It was the goal that ultimately sent Toronto FC through to the CONCACAF Champions League semi-finals and the moment when Sebastian Giovinco cemented his spot as the best in the region.

Medel pushing for Boca move

Gary Medel has reportedly turned down Trabzonspor and Tigres because the Inter man wants a return to Boca Juniors.

The Chile international’s current contract expires in June 2018 and new Coach Luciano Spalletti told him to find another club this summer.

It has proved difficult, as Medel rejected offers from Turkish side Trabzonspor and Mexicans Tigres.

According to Radio Continental, this is because he wants a return to Boca Juniors, where he already played from 2009 to January 2011.

Valencia chance for Medel

Inter have still not been able to sell Gary Medel, as it’s rumoured he’ll snub Tigres to remain in Europe with Valencia.

The Chile international is not part of new Coach Luciano Spalletti’s plans and his contract is due to expire next summer, so a sale is the only real option.

After negotiations with Boca Juniors and Mexican club Tigres, a deal has not been struck.

According to Deporte Valenciano in Spain, that’s because the man who turns 30 next month is eager to remain in Europe.
