Zeman: ‘Cagliari can shake Napoli’

Zdenek Zeman said Cagliari will “give Napoli a run for their money,” whilst insisting that relegation is not inevitable.

The Rossoblu skies seem overcast as they sit eight points away from safety and are up against one of the major forces of the season, but their Coach opted for a never-say-die attitude.

“We must give everything we've got in games like these, there's no point in sitting back, feeling satisfied, or making calculations,” he said in his Press conference.

Zeman: 'Cagliari are unlucky'

Zdenek Zeman feels Cagliari are “very unlucky” after their 2-0 defeat to Genoa, but he believes in safety.

The Sardinians have lost seven of their last eight games and remain in the bottom two.

“It’s a shame, as the team does produce good football, but then we hit the post, the goalkeeper performs great saves and there are refereeing decisions,” Zeman told Sky Sport Italia.

Zeman: Cagliari can stay up

Zdenek Zeman insists Cagliari can still stay up, despite being five points from safety.

The Czech Coach returned to the club last month, having initially been replaced on the bench by Gianfranco Zola, but has been unable to turn around a run of form which has seen no wins in nine games.

“Yes, I still believe,” Zeman responded when asked about avoiding relegation in his Press conference ahead of the Genoa game.

Zola's gift to Cagliari

Gianfranco Zola has reportedly reached an agreement with Cagliari to give up on three months of wages.

The Coach was fired on March 10, having taken over from Zdenek Zeman on December 23.

His contract was due to run until June 30, but La Nuova Sardegna newspaper claims Zola decided to terminate the deal by mutual consent.

This means the club will not have to pay him the outstanding wages for April, May and June.

Cagliari recalled Zeman after giving Zola the sack.

Lazio Coach Stefano Pioli says his team will only be focused on Cagliari, despite the Roma-Napoli game tomorrow.

The Aquile’s bitter rivals are welcoming the Partenopei to Stadio Olimpico tomorrow in the early kick-off, and a win for Rafa Benitez’s side would give Lazio the opportunity to go second.

“We’re only thinking about ourselves,” Pioli insisted in his pre-match Press conference.

“We have the opportunity to improve our League position. At the end of the match we’ll look at other results.
