Strong Napoli squad for Chievo

There are no injury concerns for Napoli as Coach Maurizio Sarri names a 23-man squad to face Chievo.

The Partenopei drew a blank in Wednesday’s goalless draw with Genoa, losing top spot in Serie A in the process.

However, the San Paolo boss will be able to call upon a fully fit squad for Saturday’s home encounter with the Gialloblu, who beat Sassuolo in their last encounter.

The most notable absentee from Sarri’s squad is Roberto Insigne, but the forward is yet to feature in Serie A this season anyway.

Novellino praises Sarri

Former Napoli Coach Walter Novellino has heaped praise on current boss Maurizio Sarri, labelling him as the most important man at the club.

The 57-year-old joined the Partenopei from Empoli last summer and led his new team to second place and Champions League qualification in his first season in charge at San Paolo.

“Sarri is the most important man at Napoli, we Coaches count for a lot,” Novellino told reporters.

“Higuain, it shouldn’t be forgotten, is a player who the year before last hadn’t scored that many goals.

‘Ibra would join Napoli but…’

Mino Raiola claims his client Zlatan Ibrahimovic “wanted to end his career at Napoli” but not with Aurelio De Laurentiis.

The agent represents Partenopei man Omar El Kaddouri, and spoke to Radio Crc about the club’s season so far.

“[Coach Maurizio] Sarri is giving El Kaddouri confidence,” Raiola explained.

“He wanted to compete with an important club like Napoli. We’re talking about a renenewal. It won’t be for a year, but for a long period, the President [De Laurentiis] always wants long-term projects.

Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero hits out at Napoli Coach Maurizio Sarri - “he’s a disappointment.”

The Blucerchiati share the stadium with their city rivals, and the patron was not happy with Sarri’s comments.

“It was our [the club’s] intuition to take him to Napoli,” De Laurentiis told Radio 24.

“Benitez wanted to take Leandro Damiao, but after meeting with the Brazilian’s agent we had doubts.

De Laurentiis: ‘I told Sarri to change’

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis claims he told Coach Maurizio Sarri to switch to a 4-3-3.

“The Coach caused me great pain in the past,” De Laurentiis recalled on Radio 24.

“For Empoli-Napoli last year I couldn’t go to the game, so I called the communications director [Nicola] Lombardo to ask the result, and he said ‘3-0’.
