Did Lyon snub Khedira?

French newspaper L’Equipe claims Juventus tried to send Sami Khedira to Olympique Lyonnais, but Coach Sylvinho turned him down.

The 32-year-old has gone from outcast to firm fixture in Maurizio Sarri’s midfield in only a few weeks.

According to this report, the Bianconeri had agreed a loan move with Lyon, but Sylvinho pulled the plug on the whole affair.

The Coach was seemingly unconvinced by Khedira’s fitness levels after a series of injuries.

Juventus turn to Lyon's Dembele

With Mauro Icardi increasingly implausible, Juventus are turning their focus towards Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, claim French reports.

According to Soccerlink, Juve sent scouts to view the forward when Olympique Lyonnais beat SCO Angers 6-0 in Ligue 1 last night.

The 23-year-old is seen as an alternative to Icardi, who Inter have no intention of releasing to their bitter rivals.

Genoa try to lock down Kouame

Christian Kouame is in discussions to extend his contract with Genoa after approaches from Sassuolo, Lyon, Marseille, Lille and Borussia Dortmund.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the 21-year-old striker has earned an improved salary after four goals and six assists in his debut Serie A season, not to mention an impressive summer of performances.

He is set to receive €1m net per season until June 2024, as his contract currently runs to June 2023.

Milan to keep Suso and Kessie

Milan look set to resist offers for Suso and Franck Kessie, claim Sky Sport Italia, on the orders of Coach Marco Giampaolo.

According to the latest reports, the Spaniard and Ivory Coast international are now part of Giampaolo’s plans for the season ahead.

They did enough in training and recent friendlies to convince the Coach and club that they should remain.

Suso has been repeatedly linked with a move abroad to Lyon, Sevilla or within Serie A to Roma.

Olympique Marseille, Lyon and Borussia Dortmund are ready to do battle for Genoa striker Christian Kouame, claim reports.

The 21-year-old impressed last term in Serie A with four goals and six assists in 38 games, while he scored some stunners in pre-season too.

According to Le10Sport and Tuttomercatoweb, the Ivorian is about to spark a bidding war.

Marseille have been tracking Kouame for some time, but now face competition from fellow Ligue 1 outfit Olympique Lyonnais and Germans Borussia Dortmund.

Roma are looking to Ligue 1 with reports Robin Olsen will join Montpellier on loan with option to buy, while Steven Nzonzi is open to Lyon.

The Giallorossi are busy dismantling the team put together by former director of sport Monchi.

Goalkeeper Olsen is on the verge of completing his move to Montpellier, on loan with option to buy at the end of the season.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma will have to pay a portion of his €1.5m plus bonuses salary during the loan period.

Olympique Lyonnais President Jean-Michel Aulas confirmed Milan star Suso is “one of the players we are looking at.”

The Spain international is trying to adapt in a new trequartista role behind the strikers in Marco Giampaolo’s 4-3-1-2 formation.

He has a €40m release clause in his contract and there are reports he’d be available for €35m, with interest also from Roma and Monaco.

Galatasaray made late Bennacer bid

Galatasaray made a last-ditch bid for Ismael Bennacer, it’s reported, but the Empoli midfielder kept his promise to Milan.

The 21-year-old Algeria international’s profile has shot up since the Africa Cup of Nations, where he was named Player of the Tournament.

He flew in briefly for a medical with the Rossoneri and agreed the contract, although it is not yet official.

According to Soccerlink in France, the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Sevilla and Olympique Lyonnais were trying until the end to intercept.

Fekir flies in for Real Betis

Napoli interest in Nabil Fekir was short-lived, as he arrived today for his €30m plus add-ons transfer to Real Betis.

The Partenopei had been linked with a late bid for the forward, but negotiations with Betis were already at an advanced stage.

His contract with Olympique Lyonnais was due to expire in June 2020, so he was available for a reported €20m plus €10m bonuses and 20 per cent of a future transfer fee.
