Granata can be great

A passionate Coach, focus on talented young Italians and a thrilling attacking trio, Susy Campanale believes Torino can go far.

Perhaps Sassuolo inspired Torino owner Urbano Cairo, or maybe he had simply sold enough players on at a huge profit to consider building a long-term project instead. Whatever the spark, this season the Granata are well and truly aiming for the top.

Giampiero Ventura was treated shabbily by the Turin-based media and many fans, who failed to realise just what he’d achieved at this club over the years. Their Europa League run was thoroughly entertaining and, despite selling the biggest stars every single summer, always seemed to churn out new ones.

Castan wants ‘footballing rebirth’

Leandro Castan says he has “a great desire to be reborn in a footballing sense” after being unveiled as a Torino player on Thursday.

Castan joined Torino on a season-long loan from Roma in August, little over a month after he had made a similar move to Sampdoria, and the defender is desperate to put the health problems that have wrecked his recent career behind him.

“I think I’ve joined Torino at the right time,” he told the Granata’s oficial website.
