Ferrara: 'Conte wanted Vidal, not Eriksen'

“Antonio Conte would’ve preferred that Inter sign Arturo Vidal rather than Christian Eriksen,” claims Ciro Ferrara.

The Nerazzurri spent weeks negotiating with Tottenham Hotspur and eventually agreed to pay the €20m asking price for Eriksen, who had only six months left on his contract.

“Antonio explained it very well, Eriksen needs time to settle into and understand certain tactical mechanisms,” former Juventus defender Ferrara told Tiki Taka.

Brehme hails Young and Conte

Inter legend Andreas Brehme is impressed with Antonio Conte and Ashley Young. “The English player is strong in technique and mentality.”

Brehme was part of the all-conquering Inter side of the late 1980s and early 1990s, playing in Young’s role of left-back.

“He’s a great player and has many years of experience in England,” Brehme told Inter TV.

“I think he’s a fine left-back, strong in technique and mentality.”

Conte: 'Inter gifted Lazio goals'

Antonio Conte complained that Inter “gifted two goals to Lazio” in their 2-1 defeat and seemed “scared” after taking the lead, much like their losses at Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund.

Ashley Young had put the Nerazzurri in front on the stroke of half-time with his first goal for the club, but a Ciro Immobile penalty for Stefan de Vrij’s nudge on the Capocannoniere and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic strike turned the game around.

Moratti: 'One of the best derbies ever'

Former Inter President Massimo Moratti claims yesterday’s Derby della Madonnina was “one of the most beautiful of all time.”

The Nerazzurri came from two goals down to win 4-2, with all four of their goals coming in the second half.

Moratti, who owned the club from 1995 to 2014, was impressed by the game.

“It was one of the most beautiful derby matches of all time,” Moratti told Sport Mediaset.

“It was a wonderful evening, the perfect match: Milan good in the first half, Inter better in the second.
