Sevilla a stern Europa test for Inter

Europa League serial winners Sevilla are seeking a record sixth trophy, but Owen Diana identifies the strengths and weaknesses Inter must watch out for.

Inter’s progress in Germany has reignited a long-lost love affair with a competition they cherished back in the 1990s. In order to truly rekindle that romance, they must dethrone the modern-day kings of the Europa League. Sevilla are one of the continent’s top teams and are in sparkling form heading into Friday’s showdown. The Nerazzurri must be at their best if they hope to defeat them.

Reborn Roma have Sevilla in their sights

Roma have been transformed by a shift in tactics and can unleash those weapons on the Sevilla weak spots, explains Wayne Girard.

As June turned into July, Paulo Fonseca returned to the drawing board following a downturn in his side’s play. Milan, Napoli, and Udinese took nine points away from Roma, forcing the boss to re-examine his tactics and player choices.

While his strategy of total football would undoubtedly remain, there were whispers within the press that the coach was trying out a 3-4-2-1 formation. Yet unforeseen in the first three quarters of the season, it was immediately met with positivity, highlighting certain players’ attributes.

Official: Sevilla to buy Suso

Sevilla are now liable to pay around €24m for Milan loanee Suso after they qualified for the Champions League.

Suso joined Sevilla on loan in January, with the condition that the deal would become permanent if they finished in La Liga’s top four.

That has now been rubberstamped after Real Sociedad beat Villarreal 2-1 earlier this evening.

The 26-year-old has managed a goal and an assist in 18 appearances for Julen Lopetegui’s side in his half-season with them.

Suso: 'I want to stay at Sevilla'

Milan loanee Suso has settled at Sevilla and revealed he wants to remain at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan ‘for a long time’.

Sevilla picked up the Spanish 26-year-old on a loan deal with an obligation to buy with conditions in January and with the side at third in La Liga, the chance of the performance-based clause being triggered seems highly likely.

The winger, who has played six games in La Liga this term, has claimed he’s happy in Seville and felt the team were in the middle of a good moment when the season got interrupted by the pandemic.

The indefinite suspension of football has led to growing fears of not being able to complete the 2019-20 season in Spain and in the event of no resumption, the Spanish FA has confirmed its proposal to send Barcelona, Real Madrid, Sevilla and Real Sociedad to the Champions League next season.
