Stankovic’s season over

Dejan Stankovic will undergo the knife to correct a niggling Achilles tendon injury, therefore ruling him out of the remainder of the season.

The Serbian midfielder has been struggling in recent weeks with the injury, but had been playing with the belief that the condition was manageable without intervention.

However, upon examination by medics this week, it has been determined that the 33-year-old must have corrective surgery on the injury to clean it out now.

Moratti furious with Benitez

Inter President Massimo Moratti has wasted no time in expressing his dissatisfaction with last night's defeat in the Derby della Madonnina.

The Nerazzurri lost 1-0 on the night, succumbing to a goal scored by Zlatan Ibrahimovic from the penalty spot, which inflicted on the treble winners their first loss at home in Serie A since March 2008.

"It doesn't seem to me like we suffered against Milan's play," Moratti said. "The problem is that we actually didn't play. It's a different thing entirely and much more grave.

Moratti was especially critical last night, telling journalists that it was as if Inter hadn't even played against Milan who are now six points ahead of them.
