Official: Longo in for Mazzarri at Torino

Torino have officially parted ways with Walter Mazzarri and appointed Moreno Longo on a contract to the end of the 2019-20 season.

Longo is no stranger to Toro, having been a player here and also the successful coach of their youth team, winning the Scudetto and Coppa Italia at Primavera level.

Before accepting the role, Longo first had to terminate the contract still holding him to Frosinone, even though he was fired in December 2018.

The 43-year-old is from Turin and grew up in the Torino youth system, playing for them as a right-back from 1994-97.

Coppa: Parma squeeze by Frosinone

Parma will face Roma in the Coppa Italia Round of 16, as they needed a stoppage-time Hernani penalty to finish off Frosinone 2-1.

Mattia Vitale blasted over for Frosinone early on and Giuseppe Pezzella’s effort was parried, but the deadlock was broken by a Luca Siligardi left-foot curler into the top corner.
