Andrea Petagna was the unexpected star of the show for Napoli, scoring a goal and providing two assists in their 4-0 friendly win over Serie B side Pescara.

This was the penultimate pre-season friendly for Gennaro Gattuso’s men, who ran out in a 4-3-3 formation at the Stadio San Paolo.

After an early couple of scares from Pescara, including Galano hitting the woodwork, Piotr Zielinski broke the deadlock with a ferocious strike.

Stadium law passes first hurdle

The law change that should allow for old stadiums to be restructured has passed its first hurdle and could be ratified on September 14.

The rule has been nicknamed Sbloccastadi – Stadium unblocker – and will simplify the current rules that make the restructuring of arenas so difficult in Italy.

Clubs such as Fiorentina, Genoa, Sampdoria, Bologna, Pescara, Crotone, but even potentially San Siro, could have the opportunity to fundamentally restructure and improve existing venues.

Official: Oddo is new Pescara coach

Massimo Oddo is officially the new coach of Pescara, returning to the club he had already worked with from 2015-17.

Oddo in talks for Pescara return

Massimo Oddo could return to the Pescara bench again, as negotiations are in full swing for a two-year contract.

The Delfini narrowly avoided relegation from Serie B last season, needing the play-offs to finish above Perugia.

Funnily enough, Perugia had employed Oddo last term, sacking him twice in January 2020 and again in mid-August.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the 44-year-old is first choice for Pescara and in advanced talks.

However, Sportitalia point out he will only accept if it is a two-year contract.
