Simeone ‘interested’ by Serie A

Atletico Madrid Coach Diego Simeone admits he would be interested in taking over at a Serie A club in the future.

The former Inter midfielder has been at his current club since 2011, winning La Liga, the Copa Del Rey and the Europa League during his time at Vicente Calderon.

Earlier this week, Nerazzurri vice-president Javier Zanetti tipped Simeone for a return to San Siro at some point and, during an interview with Marca, the Argentine said he could see himself in Italy’s top flight.

‘If Mancini goes…’

It is reported that Leonardo would be favourite to succeed Roberto Mancini at Inter, should the latter leave his post.

The current Nerazzurri Coach is scheduled to be holding talks regarding his future with the club’s hierarchy later today, according to reports.

According to Italian media outlet Sport Mediaset, the Brazilian could be tempted by a second spell in the San Siro dugout, where he left in 2011.

Leonardo was the last man to guide the Nerazzurri to silverware, having triumphed in the Coppa Italia before his departure.

Juventus accelerate for Cuadrado?

Juventus could fast-track the redemption of Juan Cuadrado, in case Chelsea change their manager.

The Colombian is on loan from the English side, having failed to break into the team at Stamford Bridge under Jose Mourinho.

However, following a poor start to the season, Mourinho is perhaps not as untouchable as he once was, and SportMediaset is linking Atletico Madrid Coach Diego Simeone with the job if the Portuguese leaves.

Did Napoli go for Simeone?

There are reports Napoli offered Diego Simeone a contract before he signed a renewal with Atletico Madrid.

The Coach put pen to paper on a new deal until June 2020.

Sky Sport Italia claim Napoli had proposed a move to the Stadio San Paolo to replace Rafa Benitez, whose contract is up at the end of this season.

The wages on offer were believed to be €3.5m per year, but Simeone declined.

It would’ve been a return to Serie A for the Argentine, who spent much of his playing career in Italy with Lazio and Inter.
