Simeone: 'My two teams are doing well'

Former hero Diego Simeone is “happy” to see his former clubs Inter and Lazio fight it out with Juventus in Serie A. “Two teams I love very much”.

The Argentine first came to Italy in 1990, when moved to Europe for a stint at AC Pisa. After a spell in La Liga, he returned to played for Inter and Lazio in the top tier.

The 42-year-old won the UEFA Cup with Inter and the Italian double with Lazio during his spell in Italy and the Atletico Madrid coach has revealed that he still follows the progress of his former clubs.

Klopp: 'I respect Sarri'

Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp apologised to Maurizio Sarri after his comments about Juventus and said he didn’t want to “put pressure” on the Old Lady coach.

Klopp had claimed that the Bianconeri consist of such quality that he was surprised that Sarri’s side weren’t leading by 10 points in Serie A this term.

Father: 'Piatek ready to leave Milan'

Krzysztof Piatek’s father confirms “he wants to be a regular starter. If he can’t do that at Milan, then he’ll gladly do it elsewhere.”

There were reports of offers from Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid, but only on loan, whereas the Rossoneri are only prepared to sell on a permanent basis for €30-35m.

“Kris wants to reach Euro 2020 in good shape and that means he can’t be a reserve sitting on the bench, but wants to be a regular starter,” father Wladyslaw Piatek told Polish paper Sportowefakty.

Spurs and Atleti ask after Piatek

Tottenham and Atletico Madrid have asked for Krzysztof Piatek on loan, claim reports, but Milan are only prepared to sell for €30m.

The Poland international has dropped down the pecking order after the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the change to a 4-4-2 formation.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Spurs and Atletico Madrid have both enquired after Piatek’s availability in the January transfer window.

However, both clubs are hoping for a loan with option to buy, whereas Milan will only sell for at least €28-30m.

Milan meet with De Paul agent

Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Zvonimir Boban have met with the agent of Udinese star Rodrigo De Paul, states an Italian report.

Calciomercato.com believes that Boban and Maldini met with agent Agustin Jimenez to discuss potential deals in January and for next summer.

Jimenez is the agent of Argentine midfielder De Paul, and also Matias Zaracho, a 21-year-old who currently plays for Club Racing.

De Paul had been linked with a move to Inter last summer, but a deal never materialised. However, the Nerazzurri may return for De Paul this summer.

Mertens wants Napoli extension

Dries Mertens is in positive negotiations to sign a contract extension with Napoli, claim Sky Sport Italia, despite other proposals.

The Belgian’s current deal is due to expire in June, so he could already be talking to different clubs for a new experience as a free agent.

Valencia join Suso race

Valencia have joined Roma, Getafe and Atletico Madrid in asking after Milan winger Suso, claim Marca, after he requested a January transfer.

A move to 4-4-2 has effectively pushed him out of the starting XI and his relationship with many of the fans is poor, as seen when he was jeered coming off the bench during a midweek Coppa Italia victory against SPAL.

Milan midfielder has allegedly been targeted by a host of La Liga clubs, with Atletico Madrid and Sevilla the latest in line for the winger.

Alfredo Pedulla reports that the Rossoneri had already received enquiries from Valencia and Getafe and late last night the SportItalia journalist reported that Atleti and Sevilla were have come forward.

Matic in Milan talks?

Milan are reportedly in ongoing talks with Manchester United regarding the midfielder Nemanja Matic.

The Serbian 31-year-old has only played six matches in the Premier League this term and his current deal at Old Trafford will expire this summer.

La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolò Schira has reported that Milan are interested in signing the player already this January, but face competition for the former Chelsea player’s signature.
