Lazio have purchased Matteo Guendouzi from Olympique Marseille after the conditions of his obligation to buy clause were met.

The 25-year-old French midfielder arrived in the Italian capital last summer on a season-long loan deal with a conditional clause attached, worth around €13m plus €5m in add-ons. He almost instantly became a first team regular under Maurizio Sarri and his successor Igor Tudor.

This season, Guendouzi has scored three goals and provided four assists across 40 games, being at the centre of various key moments like the first leg win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League or the clash with Paulo Dybala in the recent Derby della Capitale.

Guendouzi signing

As highlighted by various outlets including TMW and Calciomercato.com, Lazio have now signed Guendouzi from Marseille following the triggering of his conditional obligation to buy clause.

The Biancocelesti needed to finish at least 12th in the Serie A table to activate the clause, something that was mathematically confirmed following their 1-0 victory over Genoa.
