ADL: ’Supercoppa embarrassing’

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis slams the Lega Serie A, and calls on Maurizio Beretta to resign.

The Supercoppa Italiana was played between Lazio and Juventus in Shanghai over the weekend, but attracted criticism over the pitch and television coverage.

Napoli won the trophy in Doha last year, and the Partenopei patron reveals he refused to play the Bianconeri in the Far East.

“It’s embarrassing what happened,” De Laurentiis told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

Defending the indefensible

FIGC presidential candidate Carlo Tavecchio’s racist gaffe and subsequent denials highlight a worrying side of Italian football, as Luca Persico reports.

“We say that any old Opti Pobà can come here, before he was eating bananas, now he’s playing in the Lazio first XI.”

The more you read it, the worse it gets. Carlo Tavecchio’s analogy to describe the supposed flooding of non-EU players into Italian football could not have been more ill-conceived.
