Eto'o: Derby won't decide title

Inter striker Samuel Eto'o insists that the Milan derby will not decide the outcome of the Scudetto race.

First plays second tomorrow night as the Rossoneri go into the tie two points clear of their city rivals.

"The derby is a game that can change the course of the championship for just one week," the striker told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"After the game there will be another seven matches to go and only the last four rounds will decide who wins it.

Eto'o: 'Italian media is weird'

Samuel Eto'o claims the Italian media is “weird. Whoever shouts the loudest gets respected. You talked more about Mario Balotelli than Inter's Treble.”

The Cameroon international is having his second season in Serie A and admits some aspects of the culture still confuse him.

“Italy is a weird country,” he told the Corriere della Sera. “Here whoever shouts loudest and makes more trouble gets respected. You Italians love to make life difficult for yourselves.

Eto'o is a team player, says Mou

Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has sung the praises of Samuel Eto'o calling the Inter striker a great team player.

Mourinho persuaded Eto'o to play out wide on many occasions last season often as an auxiliary full-back and it helped Inter win the treble.

"Eto'o is a team guy, which is the most important thing in football," Mourinho said.

"If the team needs to defend, he defends. If the team need to fight, he fights."

Eto'o has been just as important this season, scoring 34 goals in all competitions.

Eto'o: Inter don't fear Bayern

Samuel Eto'o thinks Inter can go to Bayern Munich and make it through to the next round of the Champions League in a week's time.

The holders lost the first leg 1-0 at San Siro, but Bayern have been on a horrible run ever since and Louis Van Gaal will leave in the summer.

"We are five points from Milan in the League, but with the derby coming up shortly," Eto'o said.

"It will be an open title race until the last two or three weeks."

Eto'o 'forced' Barcelona to buy Ibra

Former Barcelona President Joan Laporta revealed how Samuel Eto'o ‘forced' them to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic in an exchange deal.

“When the club won the Treble in 2009, the technical staff wanted a few ‘locker room modifications' to help the team ethic,” Laporta told Spanish newspaper As.

“This is how we came to swap Eto'o and Ibrahimovic, a move that at the time was wanted by Pep Guardiola.

The Cameroon international was interviewed on Italian television show Chiambretti Night, looking back at the Treble-winning campaign under Jose Mourinho.

“When you play football, the most important thing is to win,” said Eto'o.

“At a certain moment last season, we knew that we had to all give more. When Mourinho asked me to change my position, I tried and it went well.

Eto'o: Impossible is nothing

Inter striker Samuel Eto'o believes there is no reason why his side can't retain the Scudetto this season.

The champions face Cesena this evening, as they look to make up ground on League leaders Milan.

If Leonardo's side win, they will close the gap to six points and still have a game in hand.

"My record is the team's objective," Eto'o told the Inter Channel.

"Fighting for the League title is much more beautiful than scoring 45 goals.

"If we fight it out with Milan it will be great."

"I hope that after a bad start to the campaign that we can win the Scudetto again," said the former Barcelona ace.
