Inter eye Belgian duo

Inter are eyeing up Belgian duo Dries Mertens and Jan Vertonghen on free transfers this summer, according to reports in Italy.

The Nerazzurri have been linked with a move for Mertens for several months.

The Napoli striker’s contract expires at the end of the season, and talks have been on-going with the Partenopei over a renewal.

Calciomercato.com states that contacts have been initiated between Inter and Mertens’ entourage over a deal, with the club willing to pay the 32-year-old the wages he’s seeking from Napoli.

Ferrara: 'Conte wanted Vidal, not Eriksen'

“Antonio Conte would’ve preferred that Inter sign Arturo Vidal rather than Christian Eriksen,” claims Ciro Ferrara.

The Nerazzurri spent weeks negotiating with Tottenham Hotspur and eventually agreed to pay the €20m asking price for Eriksen, who had only six months left on his contract.

“Antonio explained it very well, Eriksen needs time to settle into and understand certain tactical mechanisms,” former Juventus defender Ferrara told Tiki Taka.

Buffon in coronavirus controversy

Juventus star Gigi Buffon caused controversy when greeting a Chinese fan after the Coppa Italia semi-final with Milan and joking about the coronavirus.

There is video circulating online of Buffon signing autographs in the mixed zone following last night’s match at San Siro.

“I’m watching you, eh? Corona, eh? Damn, are you from Wuhan?” said Buffon as those around them laughed.

He then showed it was not a genuine concern by touching the Chinese fan on the cheek as he winked and walked on to the next autograph.
