Vidic denies Qatar offer

Nemanja Vidic is not considering Qatar. “I don’t know where these stories come from,” said the Inter defender’s agent.

The former Manchester United centre-back has repeatedly been linked with a transfer this summer and Sport Mediaset claimed today he received a proposal from Qatar.

It would be a two-year contract worth €3.5m per season.

“I don’t know where these stories come from,” agent Silvano Martina told FcInterNews.

Eder: 'Samp not about money'

Striker Eder says he turned down an offer from Qatar as he wants to stay with Sampdoria regardless of the money.

The Brazilian-born oriundo has been one of the more consistent figures in President Massimo Ferrero's Blucerchiati, even earning a call-up with Antonio Conte's Azzurri.

“Since I returned to Italy I haven't had a chance to speak with the President,” he told Il Secolo XIX.

“Right now I'm focused on the training camp and I'm working hard for Samp.

Gargano: Mexico, England or Qatar

Walter Gargano is ready to leave Napoli, as his agent confirmed offers from England, Qatar and Mexico.

The Uruguayan midfielder’s contract is due to expire in June 2016, but his time at the Stadio San Paolo appears to be up.

“We will soon make a decision,” agent Paolo Boselli told MMDeportes.

“He still feels himself to be a Napoli player, but I will talk to the President next week and by the weekend we’ll probably have more reliable news.”

The most likely destination is Mexican club Monterrey.

FIFA recommends winter World Cup

A FIFA taskforce has recommended that the 2022 World Cup in Qatar be held over November and December.

The tournament has traditionally been held in the months of June and July, but fears for player and fan safety were raised after the decision to award the tournament to Qatar.

Temperatures in Doha regularly exceed 40C in the summer months, and have even been known to reach 49C.

A taskforce for world football’s governing body has recommended that the competition be played in November and December, where temperatures are likely to be in the 20s.

Italy play Portugal in Qatar

Italy and Portugal will play a friendly match in Qatar on June 16 2015, it has been announced.

The Portuguese Federation confirmed the news via their official website.

The venue for this game will be the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, the same one used for December’s Italian Super Cup between Napoli and Juventus.

Italy and Portugal had not played each other for seven years.

The most recent encounter was a friendly in Zurich on February 6 2008, which saw the Azzurri emerge 3-1 winners.

Maggio: 'Qatar ready for World Cup'

Christian Maggio is impressed with the staging of the Italian Super Cup Napoli v Juventus in Qatar.

It kicks off in Doha on Monday at 17.30 GMT.

“We found absolutely perfect infrastructure here in Qatar. It’s a country that is ready to host the World Cup,” said the right-back in a Press conference.

Qatar have been assigned the 2020 World Cup finals, but FIFA warned it might have to be moved to winter in order to avoid the intense summer heat.

FIFA discuss winter 2022 World Cup

FIFA have confirmed that they are considering moving the 2022 World Cup in Qatar to a winter schedule.

The game’s governing body have released an update on the latest meeting held by the FIFA Executive Committee task force put in place to organise the 2018-2024 international match calendar.

Falling in this period is the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which for the expected summer temperatures, has been a point of contention and debate over moving it to the winter.
