Italian Super Cup in Qatar?

It’s reported the Italian Super Cup between Juventus and Napoli will be hosted by Qatar in December.

The tournament usually kicks off the Italian campaign, taking place between Scudetto winners Juventus and Coppa Italia holders Napoli.

Blatter: Qatar was a mistake

Sepp Blatter has conceded that FIFA’s decision to award the 2022 World Cup to Qatar was ‘a mistake’.

The game’s governing body has come under continued criticism for their decision to award the hosting rights for the summer competition to the country, with particular focus on the temperatures teams will have to play in, as well as the conditions construction workers in the country are currently enduring.

Considering the matter this week, FIFA’s President has conceded an error was made.

Qatar World Cup 'moved or reassigned'

England FA chairman Greg Dyke has called for the 2022 Qatar World Cup to be moved to the winter or reassigned.

FIFA’s decision to award the tournament to Qatar in the height of summer, when temperatures hit 50 degrees Centigrade, has raised numerous question marks.

Pressure is growing to move the competition to winter for the safety of the players and crowds.

Now England Football Association chairman Dyke has joined those asking FIFA to reconsider their plans.

Beckenbauer: 'World Cup in January'

The 2022 World Cup in Qatar might have to be played in January because of soaring temperatures, admits Franz Beckenbauer.

There is already controversy over the choice for the tournament, but on top of organisational difficulties, there are the weather conditions in a desert state.

"One should think about a different solution," member of the FIFA executive committee Beckenbauer told German newspaper Bild.
