Zanetti: Milan unexpected, Juve…

Javier Zanetti admits he did not expect Inter to be 16 points clear of Milan and claims Roma made the Nerazzurri ‘suffer’ more than Juventus.

Mllan spent over €200m over the summer yet find themselves trailing Inter by a considerable margin, while the Beneamata were held to a goalless draw by Juve last weekend.

“Did I expect Inter to be 11 points clear of Milan? Honestly no, but I expected the Coach to do a great job,” the Argentine told Tiki Taka.

Totti ‘amazed’ by EDF impact

Francesco Totti admits he has been ‘amazed’ by Eusebio Di Francesco’s impact at Roma this season.

Di Francesco will take Roma to within just two points of the Serie A summit if they win their game in hand, while the Coach has also guided the Giallorossi to the Champions League last 16.

“It’ll be important not to lose so we can stay near the top,” the iconic No 10 was quoted as saying by TuttoJuve.

Roma revenge for Shakhtar

Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League Round of 16 is an opportunity for Roma and even Napoli to take revenge, writes Giancarlo Rinaldi.

Revenge, they say, is a dish best served cold. However, it would still be at least lukewarm if Roma could strike back swiftly for Italian football in February and knock out the side that eliminated Napoli from the Champions League. That outcome alone, of course, should be warning enough for Eusebio Di Francesco’s team of the scale of the task it faces.

Tare: 'Lazio must believe in title'

Shakhtar: 'Roma a good draw'

Shakhtar Donetsk Coach Paulo Fonseca and CEO Sergei Palkin both claim facing Roma in the Champions League is “a good draw for us.”

The Ukraine club knocked Napoli out in the group phase and will take on another Italian in the Round of 16.

“Roma is not the worst option, given that the possible rivals included Barcelona, PSG and Manchester United. I reсkon this is a good draw for us,” said CEO Palkin on the club’s official website.

Salah African Player of the Year

Mohamed Salah has been voted BBC African Footballer of the Year for 2017 after his performances for Roma and Liverpool.

The 25-year-old topped the poll ahead of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Naby Keita, Sadio Mane and Victor Moses.

"I am very happy to win this award," the 25-year-old told BBC Sport.

"It's always a special feeling when you win something. I feel like I had a great year, so I'm very happy.

Vrsaljko says yes to Napoli?

It’s reported Sime Vrsaljko has made it clear he’s willing to move to Napoli, who will offer €20m to Atletico Madrid.

The full-back has been heavily linked with the Partenopei, who need reinforcements after Faouzi Ghoulam’s cruciate ligament injury.

Champions League dates confirmed

The dates for Juventus and Roma’s Champions League Last 16 ties have been officially confirmed by UEFA.

The draw was made today in Nyon, with the Bianconeri facing Tottenham Hotspur and Roma taking on Shakhtar Donetsk.

Now the dates for those matches have been announced, with Juve at home for the first leg against Spurs on February 13.

The return leg will be played at Wembley Stadium the following month on March 7.

Roma, meanwhile, will be in Kharkiv on February 21, before welcoming Shakhtar to the Olimpico on March 13.

Monchi: ‘Didn’t want Sevilla’

Roma sporting director Monchi is pleased they didn’t draw Sevilla in today’s Champions League draw.

The Giallorossi will face Shakhtar Donetsk in the Last 16, with the first leg to be played in Kharkiv on February 21 and the return leg at the Olimpico on March 13.

“Would Sevilla have been better?” Monchi considered, speaking to reporters after the draw.

“I said before the draw I wouldn’t want to face them, in the end we have Shakhtar and we’ll see.
