Amatrice: 'Juve and Inter did nothing'

The Mayor of earthquake-hit Amatrice has thanked “all of Italian football – except for Juventus and Inter, the only clubs to do nothing.”

The town was devastated by a series of earthquakes in August 2016 and a year on their Mayor, Sergio Pirozzi, spoke at an awards ceremony.

“I thank all of Italian football, that has done so much for us – except for Juventus and Inter, the only clubs to do nothing,” he was quoted as saying by Calciomercato.com.

Serie A: Minute's silence ordered

There will be a minute’s silence before every Serie A and B match this weekend for the victims of flash floods in Livorno.

In all seven have been confirmed dead in the tragedy that struck the Tuscan town last weekend.

Heavy rainfall continues all over Italy, with Orange Alerts put in place for much of Rome today.

It is believed tonight’s Serie A game between Roma and Hellas Verona will go ahead as planned.

Report: Lazio-Milan called off

Lazio-Milan has reportedly been called off after flash floods made it impossible to guarantee public safety.

It was due to kick off at 14.00 UK time (13.00 GMT) at the Stadio Olimpico.

Heavy rain was expected, and the Olimpico staff put down plastic sheeting to protect the pitch yesterday, while drains in the vicinity of the arena were cleared.

However, the extent of the rainfall and strong winds caused problems all over the city, including electricity blackouts, blocked roads and the suspension of the Metro service.

Happy Birthday Donadoni

Today is the 54th birthday of Bologna Coach and former Milan midfielder Roberto Donadoni.

Born in Cisano Bergamasco, around an hour outside of Milan, the winger started his career with Atalanta.

Having helped the Orobici to win both Serie C1 and Serie B, Donadoni played in Serie A with the Bergamo side for two seasons before earning a move to Milan in 1986.

Following a fifth-placed finish in his first season with the Rossoneri, Arrigo Sacchi's side won the Scudetto in the 1987-88 campaign, with Donadoni a key man in the midfield.

Happy birthday, Giorgio Chiellini

Today is the 33rd birthday of Italy and Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini.

Born in Pisa in 1984, the young Chiellini actually started his career as a left-back in the youth ranks at Livorno.

After eight appearances across two seasons in Serie C1, the youngster was signed by Roma in a co-ownership deal, but remained in Tuscany after Livorno had won promotion to Serie B.

Mazzarri: 'Spain or Portugal next'

Walter Mazzarri explains he left Watford because the club “did not share the same ambitions,” but would now like to experience Spain or Portugal.

The Coach had signed a three-year contract, but parted company by mutual consent after just one season in the Premier League.

Official: Crotone sign Ceccherini

Newly-promoted Crotone have officially signed Livorno defender Federico Ceccherini.

The 24-year-old completed the transfer this evening.

He reunited with his former Livorno Coach Davide Nicola at Crotone.

Ceccherini was also targeted by Palermo over the summer.

He has signed a three-year contract with Crotone, set to expire in June 2018.

Livorno goalkeeper Carlo Pinsoglio spoke of his shock at being punched by an angry fan after relegation.

Shocking reports from Livorno, where a fan punched goalkeeper Carlo Pinsoglio in the face after the team’s relegation.
 
Livorno were relegated from Serie B with last night’s 2-2 home draw against Virtus Lanciano.
 
The Amaranto had been 2-0 up, but a debatable penalty - and red card - got Lanciano back into it before a late Pinsoglio howler.

Serie B: Play-offs calendar
The Serie B promotion play-offs will start with Cesena-Spezia and Bari-Novara next week, then Trapani and Pescara come in.
 
This evening the final round of the Serie B regular season was completed with the relegation to Lega Pro of Livorno, Modena and Como.
 
Cagliari won the Serie B title ahead of Crotone, while the third promotion spot into Serie A will be decided via the play-offs.
