Maldini: 'Milan dominated Liverpool'

Paolo Maldini still can’t believe Milan lost the 2005 Champions League Final to Liverpool. “We dominated for 110 minutes out of 120,” but got their revenge in 2007.

The 2005 Final in Istanbul remains a nightmare for Rossoneri supporters, as their team somehow went from dominating 3-0 to 3-3 in the space of six minutes, eventually losing in a penalty shoot-out.

Antonio Conte could make a shock return to Juventus this summer, with Andrea Pirlo assisting him.

Andrea Pirlo is reportedly in talks to become the next Coach of Juventus’ Under-23 team.

The former Bianconeri midfielder is currently working as a pundit for Sky Sport Italia but already has his coaching badges.

Juve U23, for their part, are expected to part with Mauro Zironcelli after a debut campaign that has seen them fail to compete for promotion from Serie C.

Juve midfield not Champions quality

Once the cornerstone of Juventus strength, the midfield has now become their main flaw in pursuit of the Champions League, argues Ramez Nathan.

Juve's path back to greatness began with Antonio Conte seven years ago. The Italian tactician had just arrived after leading Siena to promotion and was about to start the most challenging journey with the Old Lady.

We all know the story, they'd been back in Serie A for five campaigns failing to achieve any silverware and their former captain guided them to three successive Scudetti, including an unbeaten run in their first title.

'Tonali the new De Rossi, not Pirlo'

Brescia boss Eugenio Corini claims Italy starlet Sandro Tonali will be ‘the new Daniele De Rossi’ and not another Andrea Pirlo.

Tonali had been likened to Pirlo in playing style, stature, appearance and the fact he also started his career at Brescia, but Corini believes the 18-year-old will turn out to be more like the Roma captain.

“He’ll be the new De Rossi, a team player,” the former Palermo and Chievo man told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Pirlo: Gattuso won't leave Milan

Andrea Pirlo believes former Milan teammate Gennaro Gattuso will remain in charge at San Siro. “He deserves to stay, he’s doing everything he possibly can.”

Gattuso’s position as Milan boss is reportedly insecure after his side went a fifth game without a win, but Pirlo made it clear his fellow World Cup winner could not have done any better in the circumstances.

“I have no doubt, Rino deserves to stay at Milan,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

Pirlo: ‘Napoli aiming for Europa League’

Andrea Pirlo believes Carlo Ancelotti and Napoli “will aim to win the Europa League” after their elimination from the Champions League.

The Partenopei lost 1-0 to Liverpool last night, going out of the competition on goals scored after the two sides finished level on points, head-to-head and goal difference.

Last season’s elimination saw Maurizio Sarri rotate heavily and a swift exit from the Europa League, but Pirlo doesn’t think that’ll be the case this season.

'Why Tonali is the new Pirlo...'

Controversial Brescia owner Massimo Cellino has explained why he believes Sandro Tonali is the new Andrea Pirlo. “I’m rarely wrong.”

Tonali has been heavily likened to Pirlo, given the pair started their careers at Brescia, are both deep-lying playmakers and have similar hairstyles.

“It’s increasingly difficult to find Italians who play regularly, and that hurts our football and national team,” Cellino told RMC Sport.
