Pirlo considering Euro move

New York City FC's Andrea Pirlo is considering a loan to Antalyaspor with a view to playing in Euro 2016.

Major League Soccer ceases activity earlier than the European leagues, leaving Pirlo without playing time for several months right before the Euros.

Inter have been showing interest in the regista and today's edition of Il Corriere dello Sport claims the player is considering a transfer, but the option remains unlikely.

‘Pirlo mad for Euros’

Andrea Pirlo ‘has a mad desire to play at Euro 2016’ says Carlo Ancelotti, who advises a return to Milan.

The playmaker’s international future has been put in doubt recently after he failed to make Italy CT Antonio Conte's squad to face Belgium and Romania.

The 36-year-old moved to New York City FC in the summer, but Ancelotti believes he will ‘definitely come back to Italy’.

“I got to talk with Pirlo and understood that he has a mad desire to play at the next Euros,” Ancelotti said to Il Giornale.

Italy lacking midfield depth

Following an average performance that saw Italy lose out to Belgium, it is evident that the midfield is Antonio Conte’s biggest worry ahead of Euro 2016, says George Rinaldi.

It all started so well for the CT, with Antonio Candreva poking home an early goal following Simon Mignolet’s parried shot from Graziano Pelle. The constant questions regarding Conte’s squad choices ahead of the match, and his starting XI were almost obliterated after just three minutes.

The cracks began to show however, and the main source of the problem, other than a torrid showing from Leonardo Bonucci that led to the Azzurri squandering the early lead, was the midfield.
