Criscito: 'Genoa always manage to save ourselves'

Domenico Criscito said being Genoa captain comes ‘with great responsibility’ but that the Grifone have 'the desire to never give up’.

The Rossoblu sacked Rolando Maran in December, after a run of 12 consecutive defeats in Serie A and the club sitting 19th in the table.

Davide Ballardini returned and has lifted the club to 13th in the League with five games remaining and Criscito admitted the run-in in recent years have been difficult for the Rossoblu.

Criscito: ‘Rovella similar to Jorginho’

Domenico Criscito says new Juventus signing Nicolò Rovella is similar to Jorginho: ‘He is in love with the ball.’

In January, Juventus signed Rovella in a swap deal with Elia Petrelli and Manolo Portanova, but the 19-year-old will end the campaign on loan at Genoa.

“I played with Jorginho in the national team and Rovella is very similar,” Criscito told Sky Sport after Genoa’s 1-1 draw against Sampdoria in the Derby della Lanterna.

200 Serie A games for Criscito

Genoa left-back Domenico Criscito played his 200th Serie A match in the Derby della Lanterna. ‘It’s a pity to not have celebrated with a win’.

The Derby della Lanterna ended in a 1-1 draw at the Marassi, but the match was still a big occasion for the Rossoblu captain.

The 34-year-old, who started with Juventus 14 years ago, but reached the milestone of 200 Serie A appearances last night.

Criscito: ‘I thought about retiring’

Genoa defender Domenico Criscito admits he ‘thought about retiring’ and reveals how he dealt with COVID.

The former Italy international returned to the Stadio Marassi from Zenit in the summer of 2018.

“I’ve had physical problems, then there was COVID too and I start asking myself questions. I was wondering if it was better to continue of do something else. I thought about retiring,” he told Il Secolo XIX.

Injured Caputo and Criscito leave Italy training camp

Domenico Criscito and Francesco Caputo have left Italy’s training camp and won’t be available for the upcoming games against Estonia, Poland and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Nineteen players trained in Coverciano today under Roberto Mancini’s assistant coach Alberico Evani, FIGC claimed in an official statement.

Italy’s head coach has tested positive for Covid-19 and he will be replaced by Evani in the friendly against Estonia on Wednesday.

Genoa: Five more players have recovered

Genoa coach Rolando Maran has another five players back in action, having recovered from coronavirus ahead of the match against Inter.

The Grifoni have revealed Maran could welcome back Francesco Cassata, Domenico Criscito, Mattia Destro, Lukas Lerager and Davide Zappacosta to training ahead of a busy schedule, including the Coppa Italia next week.

But this weekend, the Rossoblu prepare to face Antonio Conte’s Inter, who are struggling with absentees for COVID-19 themselves.

Criscito negative for Covid-19

Genoa defender Mimmo Criscito has confirmed that he has recovered from Covid: ‘Back home,’ he wrote on Instagram.

The experienced defender returned home after testing negative from Covid and posted pictures with his son and his wife on his Instagram stories writing: ‘Back home.'

Criscito was quarantined for 17 days after testing positive for the virus.

Genoa had a massive outbreak with 22 people among players and staff members who tested positive for Coronavirus three weeks ago.

Fiorentina still want Criscito

Fiorentina will try again for Genoa defender Domenico Criscito this summer, according to reports.

Criscito saw a proposed switch to Fiorentina break down in January, but Corriere dello Sport and transfer expert Niccolo Ceccarini claim he is still a target for the Viola.

Despite turning 33 in December, the former Italy international is enjoying a late renaissance, scoring nine goals from left wingback this season.
