Fiorentina still want Criscito

Fiorentina will try again for Genoa defender Domenico Criscito this summer, according to reports.

Criscito saw a proposed switch to Fiorentina break down in January, but Corriere dello Sport and transfer expert Niccolo Ceccarini claim he is still a target for the Viola.

Despite turning 33 in December, the former Italy international is enjoying a late renaissance, scoring nine goals from left wingback this season.

Genoa: 'No Criscito problem'

Genoa director of sport Francesco Marroccu insists they “never put Domenico Criscito on the transfer market” and have no Juan Manuel Iturbe regrets.

The Grifone were very active in the final days of the January window, but there was some tension when Criscito reportedly turned down a bid from Fiorentina.

There were suggestions in the media that the captain was furious at being pushed out by his beloved club.

“It was not in any way unusual, as many Genoa players are desired by big clubs,” said Marroccu in a press conference.
