Line-ups: Fiorentina-Torino

Riccardo Saponara starts for Fiorentina, in tonight’s crunch game with Torino.

Both Viola Coach Paulo Sousa and his opposite number Sinisa Mihajlovic are under pressure, meaning both sides are in dire need of a result.

Sousa has opted to give Saponara his first start since signing from Empoli, with the playmaker sitting just off Nikola Kalinic.

Carlos Sanchez starts at right-back, as the home side opt for a 4-2-3-1 system. The Viola were forced into a last-minute change, as Josip Ilicic was injured in the warm-up.

Reja or Strama for Fiorentina?

Fiorentina could reportedly bring in Edy Reja or Andrea Stramaccioni until the end of the season if Paulo Sousa departs.

According to Tuttosport, Sousa’s sacking will be “inevitable” if Fiorentina’s poor run of form continues, leaving the Viola on the lookout for Coaches that could see out the remainder of the campaign.

Reja possesses one of the better records when joining a club midway through a campaign, the 71-year-old having guided Cagliari to Serie A in 2004 and steadied the ship at Lazio and Atalanta in 2010 and 2015 respectively.

Sousa. Is. Done.

Fiorentina are out of contention in every competition, a problem that starts and ends with Coach Paulo Sousa being completely out of his depth, writes Chloe Beresford.

It was all going swimmingly for Fiorentina. An impressive 1-0 away victory last Thursday against Borussia Monchengladbach was swiftly turned into a 3-0 aggregate scoreline in their Europa League Round of 32. With silverware and a potential place in the Champions League up for grabs, it seemed like the Viola’s poor league form could be excused if they were to really challenge for a place in the Final in Stockholm this term.
