Viola: ‘Montella clause respected’

Fiorentina co-owner Andrea Della Valle says Sampdoria target Vincenzo Montella’s buyout clause ‘must be respected.’

The Blucerchiati sacked Coach Walter Zenga earlier today and are believed to have reached personal terms with Montella to take over.

Lippi: ‘struck by Fiorentina’

Marcello Lippi says he was ‘struck by the impressive strength of Fiorentina’ and that ‘it’s the year of strong teams playing well.’

The former Azzurri CT was at the Stadio Marassi on Sunday night to watch La Viola beat Sampdoria 2-0 to go top of Serie A.

Paulo Sousa’s side have started the season in impressive form and Lippi was impressed by what he saw.

“Last night I saw a great team, I was there at the Marassi, and the impressive strength of Fiorentina struck me,” he told Radio 2.

Walter Zenga admits “Fiorentina played well and deserved to win, but Sampdoria gave away two goals.”

The Blucerchiati had been unbeaten on home turf this season, but went down 2-0 at Marassi to the Serie A leaders.

“Fiorentina played well and deserved to win, but we gave away two goals, including a penalty after just 10 minutes,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

Sousa: 'Happy, positive football'

Paulo Sousa said Fiorentina’s Scudetto “is recognition, as we want to play happy and positive football in every match.”

The Tuscans are top of the table alongside Inter, with a superior head-to-head record, after this evening’s 2-0 win away to Sampdoria.
