Blanc turned down Fiorentina

Fiorentina asked Laurent Blanc to replace Paulo Sousa next season, but were refused, according to Spanish paper Sport.

It is well known that Sousa will not continue on the bench after this summer, as his contract is due to expire and neither party seemed intent on extending his stay.

Sport suggest that the Viola approached former France and Paris Saint-Germain Coach Blanc, but he turned them down.

Blanc is likely heading to Olympique Lyonnais, although he was also mentioned as a potential Barcelona boss.

Pioli set for Viola hotseat?

Stefano Pioli appears set to be the new Fiorentina Coach following positive talks with Viola officials.

The 51-year-old was sacked by former club Inter on Tuesday evening following a terrible recent run of results that saw the Nerazzurri pick up just two points from seven Serie A matches.

However, given the San Siro club's continuing pursuit of Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, it was always highly likely that Pioli would be moved on at the end of the season in any case.

Macia: 'Fiorentina need internal reflection'

Former Fiorentina technical director Eduardo Macia believes that the club’s owners must make a ‘deep internal reflection on professionals chosen by them’.

The comments come in response to threats by owner Andrea Della Valle that he will simply return the club to the mayor if he cannot find a buyer.

With fans unhappy over the running of the club - plus the fact they having continued with Coach Paulo Sousa despite poor results - the proprietors are seemingly losing patience.

Sousa explains Fiorentina picks

Paulo Sousa was “proud” that Fiorentina fought to the last minute for a point against Sassuolo and explained his tactical choices.

The Viola had seen a Nikola Kalinic penalty saved and gone in front through Federico Chiesa, but it took a last-gasp Federico Bernardeschi curler to grab a 2-2 draw.

“We were missing something in the final ball, but the team was always well in the game, even after going down to 10 men,” Sousa told Mediaset Premium.

EDF: 'All about Sassuolo'

Eusebio Di Francesco once again refuses to discuss his Sassuolo future ahead of the match with Fiorentina.

The 47-year-old's impressive tenure with the Neroverdi has seen him linked with today's opponents, who look set to allow Paulo Sousa to leave at the end of the season.

However, the Coach once more stressed that for now his only focus is on helping his current club secure another three Serie A points.

"It will be a really good game, we will look to bring home the three points.
