Italy call Lasagna

Italy CT Roberto Mancini has called-up Udinese’s Kevin Lasagna to replace the injured Simone Zaza.

The Torino striker felt a calf injury in training yesterday, and it was announced this morning that he had pulled out of the squad.

This afternoon the Azzurri have called his replacement, with Lasagna afforded the chance to get his first cap.

The 26-year-old scored 14 goals in 32 games for the Zebrette last season, but so far this term he’s found the back of the net only once.

Julio Velazquez believes the 2-0 victory away to Chievo shows Udinese are beginning to grasp the mechanics of his football.

Rodrigo De Paul was decisive at the Bentegodi with a stunning long-range strike and then the assist for Kevin Lasagna’s counter-attack.

“My team played very well, we remained solid and hit them on the break, making the most of our positioning,” the Spanish Coach said in his Press conference.

“I think the draw was the fair result, as it was a very balanced game and we were up against a strong side with internationals like Andrea Belotti and Simone Zaza,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

Lasagna: ‘We need a least a point’

Kevin Lasagna believes Udinese need ‘at least a point’ in their Serie A clash with Inter today.

The Bianconeri finally ended their horrendous run of 11 consecutive defeats in last weekend’s 3-3 draw at Benevento, but they are still just three points above the relegation zone.

And speaking ahead of the match against Luciano Spalletti’s Champions League chasers, Lasagna acknowledges it will be a tough ask for his side.

Udinese lose Lasagna

Udinese have lost striker Kevin Lasagna to a thigh strain, while Igor Bubnjic has been loaned to NK Inter Zapresic.

Lasagna limped off during Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Torino and tests confirmed the presence of a lesion to the left femoral bicep.

It rules him out of this week’s Serie A clash with Roma and potentially for a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, Udinese also announced that they have loaned Bubnjic to Croatian club NK Inter Zapresic until June 30.

Oddo: 'Bologna deserved more'

Massimo Oddo was glad Udinese found “different ways to earn three points, but Bologna did not deserve to lose today.”

The Friulani have been positively transformed since Oddo replaced Gigi Del Neri, notching up five consecutive victories, including today’s 2-1 at the Stadio Dall’Ara.

“At times a change of management helps, at times it doesn’t. I found a positive environment here and the lads immediately put themselves at my disposal,” Oddo told Rai Sport.
