Antognoni: 'Chiesa a young Bale'

Fiorentina director and club legend Giancarlo Antognoni has called Federico Chiesa “a young Gareth Bale who drives you crazy.”

The winger is only 21 years old, but has already notched up 100 competitive games in a Viola jersey, along with 11 senior Italy caps.

“The truth is that Chiesa is a European level player, not one traditionally associated with Italians,” Antognoni told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Ancelotti: 'Bale too egotistical'

Carlo Ancelotti reveals the reason he left Real Madrid was a row with Florentino Perez over Gareth Bale’s “egotistic” attitude.

The Coach is currently at Napoli and has said they don’t score enough goals because they are too altruistic, but he warns there is a danger of going too far the other way too.

“Altruism in a squad is important, because if there’s something that drives me mad, it’s people who are egotistic in a match situation,” Ancelotti told Il Napolista.

Calderon: 'Zidane quit over Ronaldo'

Zinedine Zidane left Real Madrid because he wanted to sell Gareth Bale rather than Cristiano Ronaldo, claims Ramon Calderon.

Zidane’s decision to walk away at the end of last season following a record third consecutive Champions League trophy surprised many.

It was followed a few weeks later by Ronaldo’s €100m transfer to Juventus and it seems the two were connected.

“Zidane insisted on keeping Cristiano and selling Bale,” former President Calderon told AS.

Toshack: 'My advice to Ramsey'

Former Wales manager John Toshack advised Aaron Ramsey not to “make the same mistake Gareth Bale did” and has tactical concerns for Juventus.

There are multiple reports Ramsey has chosen to join Juve as a free agent in the summer, once his contract with Arsenal has expired.

“He was always a talent, but I don’t know if I’d call him a star yet,” Toshack told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

‘Bale to Juventus not impossible’

Gareth Bale’s agent replies “nothing is impossible” when asked if the Real Madrid forward could join Juventus in the future.

The Welshman is expected to be one of the leaders at the Bernabeu after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure, but he could follow the Portuguese to Turin one day.

“Gareth is very happy at Real Madrid, but if we’re talking about the future then nothing is impossible in the transfer market,” Jonathan Barnett told Tuttosport.

Bale: 'Build on second half'

Gareth Bale said Real Madrid “have to pick up from where we left off in the second half” of the 2-0 victory against Roma.

The reigning champions of Europe were very fortunate not to go into the break behind, as there were some remarkable misses, above all from Cengiz Under.

However, Bale gladly accepted a Federico Fazio gift and then set up Lucas Vazquez for the header.

Pellegrini relishes full Roma debut

Luca Pellegrini was delighted with his full Serie A debut for Roma, especially after a devastating double knee injury.

The 19-year-old had been tipped for great things even earlier, but his career was put on hold by two horrific injuries in July and then December 2017.

After two substitute appearances this season, the hometown Roman was given his full Serie A debut in a 2-0 victory over Empoli.

Bale: ‘More relaxed without Ronaldo’

Real Madrid star Gareth Bale admits it’s “a bit more relaxed” at the Bernabeu since Cristiano Ronaldo joined Juventus.

The Ballon d’Or completed a €100m move to the Bianconeri this summer, allowing his Welsh teammate to take on a more prominent role in the team.

“Obviously it's going to be a little different from having such a big player there,” Bale told the Daily Mail.

“It's maybe a bit more relaxed, yes. I suppose there is more of a team, more working as one unit rather than one player.”

CL: Real nightmare for Karius

Real Madrid won the Champions League for the third year running thanks to a Gareth Bale brace and comically awful Loris Karius performance for Liverpool.

Zinedine Zidane and his Merengues make history with a third consecutive Champions League triumph and used the exact same starting XI that beat Juventus 4-1 in Cardiff two years ago, benching Gareth Bale.

It was a very aggressive start in Kiev from Jurgen Klopp’s side, with a series of shots charged down, while Cristiano Ronaldo blasted just over from a tricky angle.

Report: Inter in for Bale

Inter will reportedly pounce for Gareth Bale if Real Madrid decide to part with the Welshman this summer.

According to the Independent, Madrid want to ‘reshape their attack’ and Bale is no longer considered unsellable.

Manchester United had long been backed as favourites to sign Bale, but the newspaper notes that they now have ‘close to zero interest’ in the 28-year-old due to his ‘age and cost’, plus the recent arrival of Alexis Sanchez.
