'Inter were living on luck'

Former Inter defender Mauro Bellugi launched a scathing attack on the club, Coach Luciano Spalletti and players. “They were living on luck.”

The Nerazzurri were top of the Serie A table in December, but have now plummeted to fifth place with one win in two months.

“I expected this to happen,” said Bellugi on Tuttomercatoweb. “At the start of the season when everyone was praising the Nerazzurri, you just had to watch their games to see how they were getting these victories…

Gabigol: 'Never a chance at Inter'

Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa expressed his frustration that Inter “never gave me a chance to play. I was always pushed to one side.”

The striker cost €29.5m from Santos, failed to get a single Serie A start and was loaned to Benfica.

After six months in a similar situation, the Brazilian opted for a return on loan to his first club.

Gabigol scores on Santos return

Gabriel Barbosa is Gabigol again, as the former Inter and Benfica striker found the net on his comeback game for Santos.

The striker earned a €29.5m move to Inter in the summer of 2016, but never received a single Serie A start.

He was sent out on loan to Benfica, disappointed there too and the deal was interrupted just six months in.

Gabigol returned to his beloved Santos and made an immediate impact, scoring in today’s 2-2 draw with Ferroviaria.

He will remain with Santos on an 18-month loan.

Gabigol: Tried too hard at Inter

Santos returnee Gabriel Barbosa admits he “tried too hard” and “went wrong as soon as I left the bench” at Inter.

Gabigol returns to Santos on loan, 18 months after leaving for Inter in a €29.5m deal, the forward having failed to make any Serie A starts in his time with the Nerazzurri.

“I tried too hard on certain occasions,” the Brazilian said at his official unveiling.

“I know I’ve made mistakes, but I’m moving forward again. It’s very easy for me at Santos.

Gabigol: 'I learned so much'

Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa insists he has “matured and learned a great deal” with Inter and Benfica after completing his return to Santos.

The striker, still only 21 years old, failed to get a single Serie A start after his €29.5m move to San Siro in the summer of 2016.

He was loaned out to Benfica with option to buy, but struggled there too, until today returning to Santos on loan to December 2018.

“It’s all very different now,” Gabigol said on Santos TV.

Joao Mario set for West Ham

Joao Mario appears to be set to join West Ham United on loan, but Inter won’t include an option to buy.

The two clubs have been in talks over the Portuguese midfielder in recent days, and it was reported last night that negotiations were down to the details.

This morning’s Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Premier League club have agreed to pay €1.1m for the loan, during which they will pay 100 per cent of his salary.

Gabigol to Santos imminent?

Gabriel Barbosa's return to Santos from Inter will reportedly be formalised by Thursday.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio's website, an agreement has been reached for Gabigol to terminate his loan spell at Benfica and re-join Santos “on a temporary basis”.

Although Di Marzio does not clarify the length of his move back, Premium Sport reported last week that the Brazilian side would pay €1.5m to loan him for 18 months.

Gabigol-Santos, then Sturridge-Inter?

Gabigol’s expected loan from Inter to Santos could pave the way for Daniel Sturridge to move to the San Siro.

The Liverpool forward has been heavily linked with a temporary move to Serie A of late, with Roma also thought to be interested in his services.

And Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the Nerazzurri will be ready to make an offer for the England international once they have ensured the return of Gabigol to his former club.

The Brazilian struggled at Inter last season before being loaned to Portuguese side Benfica for this campaign.
