Douglas Costa swap with Thomas Partey?

Douglas Costa is not only wanted by Manchester United, but could also be used by Juventus in an exchange for Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey or Stefan Savic.

The Brazilian is on the market this summer, having struggled to overcome injury problems and his lack of a real tactical position within Maurizio Sarri’s squad.

Tuttosport had already suggested he be used as part of the approach for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

Man Utd unconvinced by Rabiot-Pogba deal

According to Italian reports, Manchester United are not eager to have Adrien Rabiot included as a €30m portion of the Juventus bid for Paul Pogba.

The Bianconeri are using their own players as part-exchanges to bring down the cost of transfer fees in the post-pandemic age.

Rabiot has struggled for playing time since arriving as a free agent from PSG last summer, so is the ideal candidate to be swapped out.

Manchester United have shown interest in the Frenchman before and had been in a bidding war with Juve for his signature last year.

Chiellini: 'Nobody expected Pogba to be a champion'

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini has revealed he didn’t expect much from World Cup winner Paul Pogba when he arrived in 2012: “I thought he was one of many passing through.”

The French midfielder arrived on a free transfer from Manchester United eight years ago and through his performances in Turin, he gradually established himself to become one of the most sought-after talents in European football.

Pogba returned to Manchester United for €105m in August 2016 but has recently been linked with a return to the Old Lady.

Pogba must take Juventus pay cut

Juventus have reportedly told Paul Pogba he needs to take a pay cut if he wants to leave Manchester United for a return to Turin.

According to Tuttosport and the Corriere dello Sport, the Bianconeri intend to introduce a salary cap of €9m per season for new signings.

That means Pogba’s current €12m per year wage would go outside their financial plans, so he’d have to cut it down.

Another issue is with the transfer fee, as Manchester United are continuing to ask for at least €100m.

Following his pick of the greatest Argentinian and Brazilian XIs to grace Serie A in the last 50 years, Richard Hall looks at what France brought to Italy’s top flight…

GK: Sebastien Frey (Inter, Verona, Parma, Fiorentina, Genoa)

Sebastien Frey was iconic for anyone watching football in the late 1990s and the early 2000s. His shock of dyed blond hair made him instantly recognisable and it is easy to forget how good he was. His composure, athleticism and good footwork did well for him at Inter, Parma, Fiorentina and Genoa. It was perhaps for the Viola that he was at his absolute best.

RB: Lilian Thuram (Parma, Juventus)

Juventus trio in Pogba deal?

Manchester United are content to accept Aaron Ramsey, Adrien Rabiot or Douglas Costa as part of an exchange taking Paul Pogba to Juventus, it’s reported.

According to Rai Sport reporter Paolo Paganini, the negotiations are continuing behind the scenes in Monaco.

Following the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown, all clubs are going to focus more on exchanges than expensive transfer fees.

If Juve are to bring Pogba back to Turin, it’ll require several players as part of the deal, even if his €110m price-tag has dropped.

Solskjaer: 'No more bad apples'

Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has claimed the atmosphere at Old Trafford has changed for the better after letting Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku move to Inter.

Lukaku and Sanchez arrived at Inter last summer and Paul Pogba has been linked with a return to Juventus in recent weeks, but Solskjaer suggested he has been able to get rid of the ‘bad apples’ from his first months at the helm.

Pjanic for Arthur or no Barca deal

Despite the Spanish reports of a deal involving Nelson Semedo, Sky Sport Italia insist Miralem Pjanic will only join Barcelona if Arthur Melo goes to Juventus.

Spanish newspaper Sport claimed this afternoon that the Bianconeri had agreed to hand over Pjanic, plus Mattia De Sciglio and €25m cash in exchange for Semedo.

Not only are the figures improbable, but multiple Italian reports point out Juve are not particularly interested in Semedo either.

Tacchinardi: 'Sell Ramsey and Rabiot for Pogba'

Alessio Tacchinardi is urging Juventus to sell Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot to bring back Paul Pogba from Manchester United, while he’d rather get Sandro Tonali that Federico Chiesa.

The former Bianconeri star midfielder gave his views in an interview with Tuttosport newspaper.

“In order to get Pogba back, I would let Rabiot and Ramsey go, even if the Welshman did show a few signs of life in the last few games,” said Tacchinardi.
