Allegri: ‘Juventus were tired’

Massimiliano Allegri admits Juventus were “a little bit tired” against Genoa, and reveals Gianluigi Buffon will return to training this week.

Costa sees stuttering Juventus past Genoa

Juventus were unconvincing, but Douglas Costa’s goal secured a 1-0 win over a Genoa side who didn’t have a single shot on target.

The Brazilian winger opened the scoring early in the first half, and despite looking rusty at times the Old Lady held on to keep pace in the Scudetto race.

Berna: ‘Accepted Juventus immediately’

Federico Bernardeschi says he “never had any doubts” about joining Juventus and “the two teams who will fight for the Scudetto are ourselves and Napoli”.

The winger left Fiorentina to make the move to Turin in the summer, and in an interview with Sky that was contrasted with Simone Verdi rejecting Napoli to stay with Bologna.

“I’m speaking from my point of view, from a personal point of view,” Bernardeschi stressed.

Koulibaly: ‘End Juventus dominance’

Kalidou Koulibaly says he and his Napoli teammates are looking to “end the Juventus hegemony” this season.

The Bianconeri have won Serie A for the past six seasons in a row, but this year they find themselves a point behind the Partenopei after 20 games.

“This year we want to get to the end,” Koulibaly told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We’ll do everything to keep Juventus behind us, but Roma and Inter aren’t out of the Scudetto picture either.

Cassano: 'Only three Serie A champions'

Antonio Cassano claims there are “only three champions in Serie A,” so is keeping himself in shape for the right opportunity.

The 35-year-old forward hasn’t played since 2016, as he was involved in a contract dispute with Sampdoria, then signed for Hellas Verona in pre-season only to quit two weeks into training.

Now he wants a comeback and assures he’s been keeping himself in shape.

Immobile hunts Higuain record

Lazio striker Ciro Immobile is on course to beat Gonzalo Higuain’s 36 Serie A goals in 2015-16.

The then Napoli striker matched Torino legend Gino Rossetti’s 36 goals in a season, managing that record in 35 games.

After 20 rounds of the Serie A season, Pipita was on 20 goals which is the same record currently held by Immobile.

Sampaoli to meet Higuain

Argentina boss Jorge Sampaoli has confirmed that he will meet Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain, with the World Cup in view.

Higuain has been the biggest casualty of Sampaoli’s Argentina reign as the Coach has preferred Inter’s Mauro Icardi to lead the line, but he made it clear the 29-year-old was firmly in his thoughts for next summer’s showpiece.

“I’ll meet some players, including Icardi and Higuain,” he told Fox Sports Argentina.

Pochettino: ‘Juventus will be a battle’

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino expects “a battle” against Juventus in the Champions League Last 16.

The English side will face the Bianconeri next month, and their manager has roots in Italy, and Piedmont specifically.

Roma Coach Eusebio Di Francesco dismisses a controversial front page - “I don’t have to respond to Tuttosport…”

The Turin sports daily’s front page today showed Medhi Benatia, Miralem Pjanic and Wojciech Szczesny, with the headline “From losing Romans to winning Juventini”.

“Everyone is free to express whatever they want,” Di Francesco shrugged in his Press conference ahead of tomorrow’s meeting with the Bianconeri.
