Higuain: Only wanted Juve

Gonzalo Higuain says he had ‘clear ideas’ about staying at Juventus and that his daughter was behind his decision to wear No 21.

Higuain was expected to be moved on by Juve over the summer after Chelsea passed up their option to buy, with Roma heavily linked.

However, the striker has since been reunited with Maurizio Sarri in Turin, replacing Mario Mandzukic in the Old Lady’s attack.

“As soon as I returned to Turin, I had clear ideas. I wanted to stay at Juventus,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

The game is a dress rehearsal for next weekend’s Serie A opener with Parma and is played at the Stadio Nereo Rocco.

Dzeko changes everything on the market

Edin Dzeko’s surprise contract extension with Roma has a big knock-on effect for Inter, Napoli, Juventus, PSG, Mauro Icardi, Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain.

Dzeko had clearly been, along with Romelu Lukaku, the first name on Antonio Conte’s wish-list when he took over at Inter this summer.

His decision to commit himself to the Giallorossi until June 2022 effectively ruins the domino effect of strikers that had been expected to take place.
