Regini: ‘Higuain the best’

New Napoli signing Vasco Regini says “I don’t see any strikers better” than Gonzalo Higuain.

The defender joined the Partenopei from Sampdoria in the January transfer window, and was asked about the forward during his interview on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“We’re talking about the most complete striker in the world,” Regini noted.

“I don’t see any strikers better than him. He already impressed me last year, and I can confirm that feeling now I’m training with him every day.”

Lippi: ‘No Juventus-Napoli favourite”

Marcello Lippi “can’t see a favourite” between Juventus and Napoli, but the Scudetto “will probably be a two-horse race”.

The two sides occupy first and second place in Serie A, and meet in Turin on Saturday with the Partenopei two points clear.

“Juventus-Napoli will be a fantastic match, but I don’t think it’ll be decisive,” Lippi, who Coached both teams, told UEFA’s official website.

Higuain: ‘Napoli feet on the ground’

Gonzalo Higuain says the clash with Juventus will be “like a derby”, but Napoli “must keep our feet on the ground”.

The Partenopei travel to Turin to take on the Bianconeri this Saturday, with the defending champions two points behind at the Serie A summit.

“I’m calm,” Higuain told Rai when asked about the game.

“I’ve been playing football for many years and I’m used to the pressure. Obviously there’s a great desire to take to the pitch though, it’s like a derby.

Simoni: ‘Napoli, stay positive’

Former Coach Gigi Simoni says Napoli “must always be positive, whatever happens” to win the Scudetto.

The Partenopei are two points clear at the top of Serie A, but face their closest challengers , Juventus, on Saturday.

“Napoli have put together an important run of results,” Simoni noted on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“I think a little rest did them good. Then there’s a master like [Coach Maurizio] Sarri who will have taken advantage of the rest, and it’ll be a beneficial factor for the team.

To Hellas and back

Inter struggle in a dramatic tie against the Veronese, whilst Juventus and Napoli continue to set a furious pace in pursuit of the Scudetto, writes Richard Hall.

The Nerazzurri had seemingly recovered from a disastrous month by beating Chievo midweek. Verona beckoned once more on Sunday, as Roberto Mancini’s side travelled to Stadio Bentogodi to face a Hellas side who had just recorded their first win of the season against Atalanta. Few would have expected the home team to get anything from the game and this seemed even more unlikely when Jeison Murillo opened the scoring early on.

Serie A Team of Week 24

With Juventus and Napoli extending their winning runs, Dave Taylor selects his best XI from Week 24

Nicola Leali [Frosinone]

Could not do much about either goal but certainly saved his side from a bigger defeat. He made two superb saves in the first half from Stefano Sturaro and Alvaro Morata and was always well positioned to deal with any danger. Imposing.

Andrea Barzagli [Juventus]

Higuain: 'Juve game not decisive'

Gonzalo Higuain insists next week’s showdown with Juventus “is not the most important game of the year” for Napoli.

The Partenopei made history with their eighth consecutive Serie A victory, beating Carpi 1-0 with Pipita’s penalty.

“It was a very difficult match against a Carpi side that was all pegged back in defence,” he told Mediaset Premium.

“We worked hard and had patience until we were able to find a breakthrough.”

‘Napoli-Juventus sprint finish’

Fabio Capello believes a “sprint finish” will decide whether Napoli or Juventus win the Scudetto.

The two clubs have opened up a gap between themselves and the rest of Serie A, and the former Bianconeri Coach sees the pair as the only realistic contenders.

“I thought it would be much more open this season,” Capello admitted to Gazzetta dello Sport.
