Higuain: ‘Napoli must be perfect’

Gonzalo Higuain says Napoli must be “perfect” to win the Scudetto and Maurizio Sarri “got the best out of me”.

The Argentinian striker has been in sensational form this season, hitting 22 goals in 22 games to fire the Partenopei to the top of Serie A.

“I try to live normally, despite being very appreciated by the fans,” Higuain told Serie A’s official television channel.

“The fans show me so much love.

Pioli: ‘Lazio will play to win’

Coach Stefano Pioli says Lazio's “aim is to win” when leaders Napoli come calling tomorrow.

The Biancocelesti were thrashed 5-0 in the game at San Paolo, but they won’t be looking to park the bus for the return leg.

“Our aim is to win,” Pioli told reporters in his pre-match Press conference.

“We’ll play to score, and not to avoid conceding. We have to try to cause problems for the oppnent, like we did against Inter and Fiorentina and for an hour against Juventus.

Pipita was on target again in today’s 5-1 demolition of Empoli, despite conceding an early goal.

Higuain: 'I'll always thank Sarri'

Gonzalo Higuain thanked Napoli Coach Maurizio Sarri. “He’s getting the best out of me and I was struck by his sincerity.”

The striker has scored an extraordinary 21 Serie A goals in 21 games this season, which propelled his team to the top of the table.

“The thing that really struck me about Sarri was his sincerity. In five minutes he convinced me to stay, he has got the best out of me and I will always be thankful,” Higuain told Total Italian Football.

Napoli: ‘Higuain is fine’

Napoli have confirmed Gonzalo Higuain was only taken off “as a precaution” in today’s friendly.

There was concern when the Argentinian striker was taken off after just five minutes of the match against San Vito Positano after a heavy challenge.

“I’ve just come from the dressing room, where Higuain was with the doctor,” the Partenopei’s communications manager Nicola Lombardo told Mediaset.

Higuain suffers ankle knock

Gonzalo Higuain has been substituted with an ankle injury after just five minutes of Napoli’s friendly with San Vito Positano.

The Vesuviani are playing a practice match against the sixth-tier team after the Maurizio Sarri controversy, as gay rights campaigner Alessandro Cecchi Paone is the honorary President.

However, TuttoNapoli reports that in the third minute of the match, star striker Gonzalo Higuain suffered a heavy challenge, and stayed down holding his ankle.

Zamp: ‘Napoli made Dybala bid’

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini reveals Napoli tried to buy Paulo Dybala this summer.

The forward moved from the Rosanero to Juventus this summer in a €40m deal, and has 12 goals and seven assists so far this season.

“[Gonzalo Higuain] and Dybala are very good but different,” Zamparini told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“Gonzalo is the best striker in the world, Paulo is the new [Lionel] Messi.
