Report: Viola target Callejon

Fiorentina have reportedly targeted former Napoli winger Jose Callejon, should Federico Chiesa move to Juventus this week.

The Spanish winger was released by the Azzurri after 2019-20 and has yet to find a new club, but the Viola could offer him a chance to stay in Serie A.

Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims Fiorentina President Rocco Commisso considers offering the 33-year-old a contract at the Artemio Franchi.

Callejon all set for Villarreal

Jose Callejon is heading to Villarreal as a free agent after his Napoli contract expired.

The 33-year-old is seeking a new adventure after seven years at the Stadio San Paolo and is free to choose his next destination.

According to Sky Sport Italia, an agreement has been reached between the player’s entourage and Villarreal.

It is a return to Spain for the veteran winger, who has played for Real Madrid and Espanyol.

Callejon leaves Napoli after 349 competitive games, in which he scored 82 goals and provided 78 assists.

Napoli bid farewell to Callejon

Napoli players and staff have been saying goodbye to Jose Callejon, who has played his final game for the club after seven years.

The 33-year-old’s contract expired in June and he agreed to remain on until the end of their Champions League campaign, despite not taking a salary for that period.

It was his final parting gift to the club he first joined from Real Madrid in 2013.

Callejon leaves after 349 competitive games for Napoli, in which he scored 82 goals and provided 78 assists.

Report: Napoli accept Callejon offer

Napoli have reportedly accepted Jose Callejon’s offer of extending his contract without taking a wage.

Callejon’s contract was due to expire on June 30, but the winger offered Napoli his services for free until the end of the season.

Calciomercato.it writes the Partenopei gave the green light to the proposal, so the Spaniard should be able to help them in Serie A and the Champions League.

Callejon 'offers to play for free'

Jose Callejon has reportedly offered his services to Napoli for free until the end of the season.

Callejon’s contract expires on June 30 as it stands and no renewal is presently on the table.

However, the winger has yet to sign with another club and – as per Calciomercato.it – that is because he wants to see out the season with Napoli.

Such is his desire to stay for the rest of 2019-20 that he is prepared to play for the Partenopei free of charge, not receiving a wage for July or August.

Granada deny Callejon interest

While there are reports in Spain that Real Betis and Granada want Napoli man Jose Callejon, Granada director Fran Sanchez insists he is ‘not an option for us.’

The 33-year-old has been at the Stadio San Paolo since 2013, but his contract is running down and he’s widely expected to move back to Spain.

Cadena Cope and La Razon both state today that Andalusian clubs Real Betis and Granada are the favourites ahead of Valencia.
