De Rossi: 'I'd love to be Boca coach'

Daniele De Rossi describes his visit to Diego Armando Maradona’s home, what went wrong for Carlos Bianchi at Roma and his wish as a coach. ‘I’d love to come back to Boca.’

The World Cup winner ended his playing career in Argentina with Boca in January 2020, after six months, seven games and one goal for the club.

“I do miss Boca and Argentina. I enjoyed every single minute of my time there,” De Rossi told ESPN Argentina.

De Rossi: 'Privileged to play for Boca'

Daniele De Rossi described his special six months in the Boca Juniors jersey. “I feel truly privileged to have played” at the Bombonera.

The midfielder retired at the age of 36 in January, having spent his entire career in the Roma jersey before a brief spell in Argentina.

Although he eventually made only seven competitive appearances for Boca, he did score a goal.

“I couldn’t tell you what I experienced in those six months in Argentina,” De Rossi told Sky Sport Italia.

De Rossi: 'I am retiring'

Daniele De Rossi has officially announced his retirement at the age of 36 after a career spent with Roma and Boca Juniors. “I simply need to be back home.”

It was announced in a joint press conference with Boca Juniors President Jorge Amor Ameal this evening.

“It’s not a serious injury problem or any other major issue, really,” assured DDR to the media.

“I simply feel the need to be back with my family. I miss my daughter in particular and she is missing me. I have made this decision, it is definitive.

Official: Nandez signs for Cagliari

Nahitan Nandez has finally completed his transfer from Boca Juniors to Cagliari after months of tense negotiations.

The Uruguay international few in on Wednesday and was mobbed by fans at the airport, then had his medical.

As confirmed by President Tommaso Giulini via Twitter, Nandez signed the contract at 02.30 this morning.

“Finally a Rossoblu,” wrote the patron.

The contract is set to run until June 30, 2024.

Nandez arrives for Cagliari

Boca Juniors midfielder Nahitan Nandez was mobbed by Cagliari fans at the airport as he flew in to complete his transfer.

The Uruguay international is expected to cost €18m plus bonuses, with Boca receiving a 10 per cent cut of any future move.

After months of negotiations that have been dragging on since January, the 23-year-old is finally ready to undergo a medical.

He was greeted at the airport by dozens of Cagliari supporters who were cheering and singing his name.

Daniele De Rossi surprised many when he joined Boca Juniors, but insists “it was obvious to those who know me well. It’s not so very different to Roma.”

The midfielder was tempted to retire, like Francesco Totti, after Roma decided not to offer him a new contract, but is starting a new and exciting adventure in Buenos Aires.

“I was glad to hear that my work and career had been appreciated, particularly as I was called to Boca by Nico Burdisso, who I’ve known for many years,” De Rossi told the official Boca Juniors website.
