Juve: Bentancur or Witsel before Verratti

Juventus plan January reinforcements with either Rodrigo Bentancur or Axel Witsel, then begin the Marco Verratti siege next summer.

The Bianconeri have struggled in midfield so far this season and, although Claudio Marchisio’s recovery from six months out with a torn ACL is a huge boost, it’s still not enough to be competitive in the Champions League.

According to Tuttosport, the plan is to bring in at least one big name during the January transfer window.

Juve: 'We will take Bentancur'

Juventus have confirmed they will activate their option for Boca Juniors talent Rodrigo Bentancur.

The 19-year-old Argentine was wanted by Milan over the summer, but Juve refused to relinquish their option to buy for €9.4m plus €1m bonuses before April 20 2017.

“We monitor promising youngsters, we have an option on Bentancur derived from the sale of Carlos Tevez and I think we will activate it,” director Beppe Marotta told Mediaset Premium.

“It is an operation we will make for next season.”

The Rossoneri had set a deadline for Boca to accept the €15m proposal and it failed to create the necessary breakthrough.

Juventus have an option on the player, secured as part of the Carlos Tevez move last year, and were unwilling to let the 19-year-old go.

Milan won't give in on Bentancur

Juventus continue to block Rodrigo Bentancur at Boca Juniors, but Milan won’t give up and raise the offer again.

The Bianconeri have first refusal on the 19-year-old midfielder, as they have an option to buy for €9.4m to be activated before April 20, 2017.

Because of this, Boca Juniors need to get the all-clear from Juve before selling to Milan, even if the Rossoneri are offering more cash.
