'Fiorentina lost important players'

Borja Valero admits Fiorentina 'lost important players' but want 'to do better than last year' regardless.

The Viola sold Alberto Aquilani to Hellas Verona and chose not to renew David Pizarro's contract, leaving their midfield shorn of two playmakers.

“We want to do better than we did last year, we want to be up there this season too,” the Spaniard told Sky Sport Italia.

“The departures of Aquilani and Pizarro change very much because they were two important players for us, but we've got to keep going.

Fiorentina name squad for Verona

Vincenzo Montella has named a 24-man squad for tonight’s clash with Verona at Artemio Franchi.

The Viola have been boosted by both Roman clubs dropping points this weekend, and can move to within six points of a Champions League place with a win.

However, with the return leg of their Europa League quarter final with Dynamo Kiev on Thursday, Montella may be tempted to shuffle his pack.

David Pizarro is still out of the squad, as is Giuseppe Rossi, but Ciprian Tatarusanu is available, and could start in goal in place of Neto.
