Ex-Bordeaux owner wants Roma?

American businessman and former Bordeaux owner Joseph DaGrosa is reportedly interested in buying Roma.

Dan Friedkin’s bid to purchase Roma seems to have been taken off the table, and La Repubblica is claiming DeGrosa could be about to capitalise.

The 55-year-old bought Bordeaux in November 2018 but sold the Ligue 1 side barely 12 months later.

He then showed an interest in taking over Newcastle United but lost out, seemingly to Saudi Arabia’s investment fund.

Reports: Roma takeover is off

There are multiple reports James Pallotta has turned down the latest Friedkin Group takeover bid, so the current President looks set to keep Roma.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Il Messaggero and others in Italy, Friedkin tried to negotiate down the original €710m offer, as all of football was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and consequent shutdown.

Champions League qualification is also key to boosting the club’s value, as last week they posted huge losses.

With the pandemic halting all sport, forcing social distancing measures and creating financial uncertainty all over the world, it seems inevitable that the negotiations for such a huge deal would be affected.

Pallotta confident of Roma takeover

Roma President James Pallotta has assured that the club’s proposed sale to Dan Friedkin is still on, despite talk of a Plan B.

Sky Sport Italia reported on Tuesday that there was a slowdown in negotiations to transfer ownership of Roma to Friedkin.

As a result, Pallotta was said to be planning to proceed with a three-year plan for the Giallorossi, prioritising a new stadium, sticking by Paulo Fonseca and keeping Nicolò Zaniolo.

However, when asked by LaRoma24 if a sale could still go through, the 62-year-old replied: “Always.”
