Report: De Rossi wanted Totti out

Roma President James Pallotta has denied a ‘bull’ report in La Repubblica that claimed Daniele De Rossi wanted Francesco Totti out of the club.

The Roman newspaper cited a leaked email from ex-Roma fitness coach Ed Lippie - sent to Pallotta in December of last year - that read how De Rossi, along with Edin Dzeko, Kostas Manolas and Aleksandar Kolarov, called for the heads of not only Coach Eusebio Di Francesco and sporting director Monchi but also Totti.

Between a Rocco and a hard place

After 17 years of Della Valle rule, Fiorentina are poised for a Rocco Commisso era, but Giancarlo Rinaldi knows the pitfalls of American owners in Serie A.

According to the American business bible Forbes, he learned to play what they call “soccer” in Italy, on cement and with a ball made out of old rags and underwear. Yet from such inauspicious origins, Rocco Commisso is now estimated to be worth about $5bn. Never mind a football, he can afford to buy himself a whole club.

Pallotta thanks Ranieri & Roma fans

James Pallotta has thanked ‘gentleman’ Claudio Ranieri for steadying the ship at Roma and the club’s fans for giving Daniele De Rossi an ‘incredible’ reception.

Ranieri guided Roma to sixth place in Serie A and Europa League qualification in tough circumstances after the midseason exits of Coach Eusebio Di Francesco and sporting director Monchi.

De Rossi, meanwhile, ended 19 years of service to the club during Sunday’s 2-1 win against Parma, although Pallotta was nowhere to be seen at the Olimpico.

Leeds chief to buy Genoa?

It’s reported Qatar Sports Investments are in talks to purchase Leeds United rather than Roma, whose owner Andrea Radrizzani could then buy Genoa.

This summer there will be more than simple player transfers in a rumour merry-go-round, as several clubs around Europe’s big five leagues are changing hands.

Roma President James Pallotta denied claims he had met with QSI officials and it seems he was right, because the Financial Times suggests they are instead in advanced negotiations to buy up English Championship club Leeds United.

De Rossi: 'Nobody will love Roma like me'

Daniele De Rossi has written a touching open letter ahead of his final Roma match. “Nobody will ever love you more than me.”

The Sunday evening game against Parma at the Stadio Olimpico will mark the end of his Giallorossi experience and, it’s reported, perhaps also playing career.

His farewell considered his lifetime as a Roma fan, no regrets over choosing to reject other clubs and above all a call for unity, asking the fans to set aside their anger at President James Pallotta and the hierarchy.

Pallotta: 'Never met Al-Khelaifi'

James Pallotta denied reports he met with Paris Saint-Germain President Nasser Al-Khelaifi about the possibility of selling Roma to Qatar Sports Investments.

The Giallorossi President told RomaPress today that he has "never met Al-Khelaifi" after a story was published in Italian news agency Adnkronos claiming that the pair met in April.

QSI has recently been heavily linked with the potential purchase of the capital club, as Pallotta was reportedly considering selling due to difficulties in building a new stadium.

Cassano slams Roma chiefs

Antonio Cassano has slammed Roma’s board for their mistreatment of Daniele De Rossi. “Baldini and Pallotta did it again...”

Roma President James Pallotta and consultant Franco Baldini have felt the wrath of the club’s supporters over the past week, and Cassano agreed both were to blame for the botched nature of De Rossi’s departure.

“Baldini and Pallotta did it again. After Totti, they did it with Daniele,” he told Tiki Taka.

“They must remember that Roma are Totti and De Rossi, not themselves.

Ranieri: 'Roma sold their spine'

Claudio Ranieri criticised Roma for their handling of the Daniele De Rossi situation, selling “the spine of the team” and warned they won’t be back in the Champions League for a while.

The Coach has already said he will leave his caretaker role in the summer and this is seemingly giving the lifelong Giallorossi fan the freedom to criticise his current employers.
