Report: Roma line up Sarri

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has reportedly been offered the chance to coach Roma next season.

According to La Reppublica, Roma consultant Franco Baldini and President James Pallotta had dinner in London with Sarri, where he was proposed Eusebio Di Francesco’s position.

The newspaper explains Di Francesco is ‘very likely’ to make way at the end of the season and that sporting director Monchi ‘could also leave’.

Pallotta: Roma stadium or nothing

James Pallotta has warned that Roma ‘has to have’ a new stadium if they are to become ‘a top-five or six team in the world consistently’.

The Stadio della Roma took a big step forward last week, when they were given the green light to start work on the project, although Pallotta admitted ‘one unreasonable lawyer’ was preventing them from buying the necessary land.

'Zaniolo & Pellegrini are Roma leaders'

Roma President James Pallotta has hailed Nicolo Zaniolo and Lorenzo Pellegrini as ‘future leaders’ for the Giallorossi.

Zaniolo and Pellegrini helped Roma take a 2-1 lead in their Champions League last-16 tie with Porto on Tuesday, the former scoring both their goals, and Pallotta sees the promising pair at the Olimpico for the long haul.

“I thought we played very well as a team and it was unfortunate that Porto got that goal,” he told SiriusXM FC.

Roma depend entirely on Porto

Roma are gambling their whole season on beating Porto in the Champions League Round of 16, writes Andrea Tallarita, but the prize is well worth it.

Roma host Porto in the Champions League Round of 16, and everyone in the Capital must be feeling fairly apprehensive. As always, this has been a season of slumps and surges for the Giallorossi, but the troughs have outnumbered the peaks by some margin, and the team's record so far deters the would-be forecaster.

Faced with the heavy-hitters of the Italian league, the Lupi have gritted their teeth, withstood every hook and uppercut, and laboured their adversaries to honourable draws (1-1 against both Napoli and Milan, 2-2 with Inter).

Roma line up Sousa for DiFra

Amid reports of a row between Edin Dzeko and Bryan Cristante, it’s rumoured Roma will sack Eusebio Di Francesco to bring in Paulo Sousa.

The 7-1 defeat to Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia quarter-final was a devastating blow and one that seems to have sealed Di Francesco’s fate.

Although the Coach insisted he would not resign and director Monchi assured there was no intention of dismissing him, Sportitalia claim President Jim Pallotta has other plans.
